I don't want to start a rumour that MSE debt diaries are magic but our upturn in fortunes definitely seems to have coincided with me FINALLY plucking up the courage to start posting on here!............:rotfl:

Funny you say that, since having my LBM and joining here, I've won £72 on the National Lottery (a £10 win and a £52 win) and £50 in a work lottery....all in 2 months baring in mind I'd won nothing in the 2 years previous :j
Fell off wagon but now had another LBM. Debt 04/01/11 £9461

    CC1 - £6413, CC2 - £2800, Next - £248.98

    Morning all!

I didn't have a very DFW weekend - I was expecting it to be quite expensive as I had tickets to a gig on Friday and I knew I would have a couple of beers, however............................some b*stards stole my phone just as the band came on! It must have been professionals because it happened to 2 of us out of 5, so I imagine a lot of people suffered the same thing

So........................................................on Saturday I bought a sexy new iPhone! I had to pay £156 for the phone but I justified it to myself by thinking about the £200 I have in savings from my 'online activity'. Not very DFW I know, but wow what a phone!

On top of that March also contains Mothers Day, my OH's birthday and out anniversary so I got some of the presents I need.

I still desperately need to get some cheap but thoughtful (her words!:rotfl: ) presents for her b'day and our anniversary so any suggestions will be gratefully received!

I think that's it for now, I hope everyone has a lovely day!

          Grrrrrrr I hate living with my in-laws sometimes!

I appreciate what my in-laws have done for us, really I do - they have let us stay with them for a year while we try to sell/rent our flat. They have also loaned us my OH's inheritance which enabled us to clear our debts, however I sometimes wonder if it was all worth it!

My MiL is the moodiest woman in the world! She seems friendly and jovial on the surface but once you get to know her you realise that she hates everyone! She hates the French, Americans, Northeners, kids, teenagers etc etc etc. Last week she refused to talk to me for almost 4 days because I held an opinion on a family matter which differed to hers! Now I have asked my friends if my opinion was out of line and they all agree that my view would have been the best course of action!

On top of this my FiL is the laziest, most controlling man I've ever met - he dictates what time I get up in the mornings so that I can squeeze in the bathroom for the 10 minutes before his shower when he eats breakfast. He dictates what we ALL watch on TV, if he doesn't want to watch it then it doesn't get on his TV! He refuses to allow any form of daytime TV until Final Score on a Saturday - now bear in mind that I generally get up with my son at around 6am on the weekends and he doesn't get up until 10, if I happen to be watching anything when he comes downstairs he just switches the TV, without even having the courtesy to acknowledge me!

I am quite fortunate that I am able to work from home occasionally and work have provided me with a laptop - a few months ago he banned me from using it in the dining room because the laptop screen in his peripheral vision was distracting him! When asked what it was distracting him from he said 'Watching TV'!!!!

Last night he asked me to refrain from 'Playing Telephones' (texting my Sister in Wales) in the lounge because it was (again) distracting him! Distracting him from what? I hear you ask.............why, distracting him from watching TV of course!

Grrrrrrrr I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!

The funniest thing was a few months ago when he asked me to stop my (at the time) 6 month old son from laughing so loudly in the bath because it interrupted him watching The One Show!

    Sorry rant over now!:rotfl:

    Hi Debrag,

Yep, they both work although he generally gets home by 4 and she will be retiring in June - although I hope to be out of there by then!

LOL sounds like my MIL! :rotfl:

I (me and OH) lived with MIL for 3 years so I know how you feel.

You asked earlier about credit reports, yes I have found the online ones very helpful and useful. I think I was with Experian and it was easy to contact them if I had any queries or wanted any info on who to write to in order to amend incorrect records etc.

If you do go for a free trial, I just used to make a note/set the alarm in the calendar of my mobile phone of when to cancel the trial and it worked a treat.

Thanks ExNicotineQueen, I think I will definitely go ahead and sign up for the free month's trial.

Even if I don't learn anything new from it at least I know it won't hurt in any way.

Cheers Natsplatnat - I think it is around 40p or 50p via Quidco. Not a life changing amount, but I will definitely be going through there!

Debrag - I seriously wouldn't recommend living with the in-laws to even my worst enemy! :rotfl:
