Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcomes and encouraging messages!

So we met with the Letting Agent today and after a good inspection and taking a bunch of photos she is going to market it at £550 p/m but we expect to only achieve around £500, taking their fees into consideration this will mean we 'earn' around £450 p/m. This is around £150 a month less than the mortgage payments which is obviously VERY frustrating but much better than wasting £600 a month on an empty flat, which is what we are doing now!
We also got some bad news this morning when our home contents claim was rejected  . To recap, when we went to the flat in December to pick up any post and just check it was ok we discovered that it had been burgled. As there were no signs of forced entry we (and the police) believe that it happened when the estate agent showed a potential buyer round and didn't close the door properly:eek: . We tried to claim through our home contents policy but they are rejecting the claim because they say we did not notify them of our change of living address - this is rubbish, because we sent them a letter with a copy of our marriage certificate (we also notified them of my now wife's change of name!) and also spoke on the phone to them about it!! But never mind, it is a set back because when we move we will now need to find the money to replace a TV which was stolen but we have decided not to let it get us down - we have made so much positive progress in the past week that another small setback won't discourage us!
On a more positive note my scratchies got me 35p today, my Dooyoo review from yesterday is upto 30 Very Useful ratings and I have a whole bunch of items to list on eBay tomorrow - including a brand new Wii game which I expect to sell for around £35.:j
Thanks for reading, I hope you are all having lovely a Valentines day and continue to have lovely weekends!
Cheers,NSDs: 4/50 -
Afternoon everyone!
I didn't get as much done yesterday as I would have liked because my boy looks like he has a couple of new teeth coming through and was an absolute 'treasure' yesterday and most of my day was spent trying to soothe him!
I did manage to do my scratchies (another 35p), list the game on eBay and do 10 posts on BP but it means I still have a number of items to list on eBay at some point this week.
I hope you all have a lovely day!
*Edit*
I forgot to mention that I managed to upload another Dooyoo review this morning which was up to 9 (100%) Very Useful reviews last time I checked!NSDs: 4/50 -
Looks like your luck is starting to change, more positive thinking will help you along, It wont pay the debt but will give you more ideas on movey saving and repaying debts. Any luck on SOA yet?Barclays OD -£805.93/limit £800 A & L OD -£350.00/limit £250HFC (laptop) £549.00, Barclays Loan £3033.00, O2 £331 (227.70 left)(defaulted):eek::eek:0

Hi Barrys Lass,
Thanks for the SOA reminder. I still haven't got round to completing it yet, although suffice to say it involves not many luxury outgoings (except my lunches) and more payments to card or loan companies!
It looks as though my loan will definitely be paid off by the end of this week (the money is currently clearing in our joint account) so I will get my OH's card balance and interest rate and this *touch wood* should be our only debt by next week! :jNSDs: 4/50 -
Morning all, long time no post! I hope everyone is well?
I have LOADS to update on, which all contribute to why I haven't posted for a while:
Debt:
My in-laws have lent my wife and I her inheritance from when her Nan died. Although not a life changing sum, it matches almost to the penny how much was left on my loan. Although it was supposed to be inheritance, us receiving it was based on my wife's uncle moving out of, and selling, her Nan's house to raise the money for us all - and as this doesn't look like it will be happening too soon the in-laws have very kindly stepped in.
Therefore my loan is now paid off, my credit card is almost empty (I have around £40 to pay off and will be finding out and paying the exact sum later today) and my wife's card has a little under £400 to pay off which I will be paying next month. Excluding the mortgage on the flat we are attempting to rent out these are our only debts left! :j :j
Flat:
We have now emptied the flat and all of our furniture is now in storage! We did this last weekend and although I had to put the £280+ charge on my credit card, I paid this off yesterday!
The flat is now on the rental market and we are hoping somebody will want to move in soon. It looks as though we may have to replace the carpet in the lounge but the Letting Agent has a deal set up with a local tradesman and it looks as though we can get this done for around the £100 mark!
General Finances:
Our previous worry of how we are going to cover the shortfall between mortgage payments and rental income and still afford to move into a place of our own appears to have been sorted - my wife has suddenly had a deluge of job offers!! She got offered some bar work in a local snooker hall for a couple of evenings a week last week, the management there like her so much and appreciate our predicament so well that they have offered her a couple of hours cleaning work a week as well - neiether of these pay much more than minimum wage but, as they say, every little helps! On top of that she got a call from a local pub yesterday and they have invited her for a trial this afternoon for a couple more evenings a week!
Although we may not see loads of each other, as I work during the day, this is going to help our finances no end and if we can survive doing this for a year or 2 then we should be more than financially stable!
In other news, I finally got my 1st £2 coin to add to the challenge and I smashed my target in the make £10 a day (£5 in my case) challenge!
All in all, life is looking very positive at the moment - I hope everyone else is enjoying it

Well done. It's great to hear that things are looking up for you at the moment and you must feel great.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Morning all!
I've had another great few days - my wife worked both days this weekend so my son and I had most of the weekend together and spent it playing with his many, many toys!
Financially, I've also had a good few days - I've withdrawn £10 in Amazon vouchers from BP, my daily scratchies are going well with almost £10 in one and a little under £20 in t'other. On Saturday I got a £5 card from the account which now has almost £20 in it!
I withdrew my £170 eBay money from PayPal late last week and this morning discovered that Quidco sent me £33 on the 28th so that will hit my account shortly and both have already been transferred to my ISA!
I hope everyone is having a lovely day, I'm off to get the :coffee:s in to celebrate!NSDs: 4/50 -
Hi everyone!Just a quick update - I posted a new review on DooYoo today and it has got 100% Very Useful ratings so far! I'm amazed at just how addictive it is, after posting a review I could easily log on 10 times or more in the next hour to see how people are rating it!! In other news, I've had another minimal spend day today having spent around £4 on my lunch. This is all due to my laziness - I just can't get into the habit of making myself lunches to bring in!I hope everyone has a lovely day!NSDs: 4/50
