Costco own brand cat food

Hi I would like some advice please. My SIL has asked me for advice and as I don't know the answer I thought I would ask on here as someone is bound to know.
Her cats are fed on James Wellbeloved and do very well on it. (She has three cats, two of whom have digestive problems) anyway, her next order is due a week on Monday and she will need food before that. She will be going to Costco on Sunday and was wondering if their dried food is any good?
She hasn't a pets at home close to her(for "emergency" Wellbeloved and her vet does not sell food(must be one of the few that don't) also she is a bit tied to the house for the next couple of weeks.
Costco's own brand stuff tend to be excellent and very high quality. Has anyone bought it and how was it for you?
We would gladly take a bag to her but as she lives over 145 miles from us it is a bit problematic. Her cats can tolerate Purina and Iams (although they hardly ever have Iams) and products like that but dried food like Go Cat, Wiskas and such like result in and this is a direct quote- "cappuccino bot"
I would be really grateful if anyone has any expierence of this. (the Costco food NOT cappuccino bot:rotfl:
Many many thanks for reading this.

I feed all three of my dogs on Kirkland Dog food and they're doing very well on it. If I had cats, I'd def give it a go.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

i wod worry that any suden change of food can cause an upset tummy in a healthy cat, let alone one with digesitive problems.
i normally wod advise a slow change over a few days to the new food to keep any upset to a minimum, but it sounds like she may run out before then0 -
Hi,
I have given my 2 kitties - Felix + Whiskas pouches from Costco + Whiskas dry food.
This was until I read somewhere that the Kirkland Dry cat ood is so much cheaper + is possibly hills Science diet!!! dont quote me on this but it looks the same and smells the same and both my kittis love it.0 -
Hi
I have feed my dogs on kirkland and they have been fine thinking of getting a kitten and will be on kirkland kitten food saw it yesterday.
if you just change the food and then change it back thats will cause upsets the change over has to be over a few days mixing old and new food together0 -
Thank you for the great replies. (MSE'rs are FAB:A )
Have spoken to SIL and she has enough Wellbeloved for another week or so.
Given the advice on here she will get the Costco food tomorrow and mix it in with the Wellbeloved.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply.0 -
I've tried it and I would says it's ok. I do however now feed both my dog and 2 cats on Arden Grange and me personally I think they are doing better on it. So much so that when I ran out the other day and had to buy some from Tesco (just got a small bag of Tescos...) the cats turned their noses up at it
.... bless....
I don't think there is anything wrong with Kirklands but if her cats have sensitive tummies I'd be very careful about changing their food... Has she tried to find JWB cheaper online? I found Arden Grange was HUGELY cheaper online (I use www.vetuk.co.uk)DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Thank you Mrs Tine I will pass the info on. The problem isn't the cost as we both get our food delivered from a company we found about here on MSE. Its just that she missed her delivery last time and will need more food before the next date.
She had bought the Kirkland today, and will do a 90/10 Wellbeloved/Kirkland mix tomorrow. To be honest if it doesn't work one of us will take a bag over for her to tide her over. Its just that my wife has the flu at the moment and I am a bit stretched with work at the moment.
However, no matter how busy/stressed/poorly we are we would never let any animal suffer so if we need to go over to her then that is what we will do.
Thank you to everyone that has posted.
I will report on how things go.0
