.pdf job application form

Dear all

I want to apply for a job and on the website the application form is a pdf. It says to complete and email it in. However, although I have reader software I don't have anything to complete, (i.e.edit) the document.

I've googled for some free software, but there seem to be catches, such as a watermark all over the doc with the name of the company, or else it's really fiddly to match my typing to the boxes.. The alternative is to complete it in pen and send in the post, but that seems to defeat the object.

Can anyone advise? Many thanks

Liz.

Thanks, yes I'd found that one but it doesn't seem to let you edit or type to your document, it just moves pages around and a few other things.

    Thanks

have you tried pdfonline? We use it to convert from word to .pdf but I think there's also a facility to convert back again?

  • If you down load the trial version of bluebeam from here you get fully functional pdf software that integrates with MS Word (which makes life easier). The trial is only for 30 days, but it should do exactly what you want. :)

  • PDF-XChange Viewer - http://www.pdfxviewer.com/home/prod_user/PDF-XChange_Tools/pdfx_viewer/

Despite the name "Viewer" it does allow you to type directly on any PDF page, not just Adobe enabled forms documents - in Typewriter mode. There are many other features, see web site for details plus it's freeware.

It also has the advantage that when you type into an Abode enabled form it allows you to save the completed form, Adobe Reader does not allow this.

Print it, complete it, scan it, then email it back to them.

Perhaps it is an intelligence test, part of the screening process, to see what you actually do ;)

OpenOffice 3.0 is a very cool piece of software, well known to members of this forum. Less well known are the free OpenOffice add-ons such as Sun Microsystems PDF Import extension which allows you to open a PDF file directly in StarOffice and edit any part of it. Then you can either print it or export it back to PDF for emailing.

Last time I had to do that, I installed Adobe reader 9.
As long as the PDF has editable fields on it, you should be fine.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

That's why I want to be able to do this and not just print and post it!! I suspect however (knowing the organisation!) that they just don't realise that people can't complete the forms without writer software!

I'm really grateful for all the suggestions, as I use Open Office for everything else this looks good, and I've had a look at the other ideas too, thanks everyone - and wish me luck with the job!!
