Halifax secure used , no refund?

I disputed a tranaction on my account , i never gave the company permission to take this money , ive not even used the company in question .

It was on my visa debit account , bank has wrote back telling me that because it was done using my halifax secure online account that i will not be refunded me and gave me details of banking code how to keep my pin safe and not share it or write it down!!!!

I neever write it down , granted i keep my halifax secure in my drafts folder on laptop but only i use my laptop , otherwise i would never remember it.

Only thing i can think of is my internet wireless has had no password on it for 2 weeks , only found out when neighbour told me he was picking it up , but cant see how someone would get my password even if they went it to my internet

I didnt , i wasnt asked when i went into the bank , i was only asked about my pin number which i never write down anywhere.

So that means anyone can take anything from your bank account and get away with it if you sign up to halifax secure?

Its an online form you fill in with a password so everytime u buy something you enter in that password , suppose to be extra layer of protection

I just been reading about it via google and it seems as its not as secure as halifax like to make out it is.....anyone please know what i can do or where i stand

So it's the same as Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecurCode then? If it is then it's not very secure at all. I had forgotten my password for one of my cards that I registered (Nationwide I think it was) and it allowed me to change it there and then (in the middle of the purchase) by just entering my dob and the expiry date on the card.

EDIT: I guess you need to raise a formal complaint and ask them for proof that your password was used for the transaction.

BZZT!!! You've broken the terms and conditions of Verified by Visa and Mastercard Securecode (the people behind Halifax Secure), and so you're not entitled to any refund, as you have acted negligently.

Unfortunately, this is exactly the kind of reason they introduced these systems - to shift the onus on safety from the bank to the consumer :(

So again, unfortunately, it falls onto me to post a humourous picture to lighten the mood.

she said i probably wrote it down or gave it to someone  why the hell would i give my password to someone

She said i want be getting any money back , i asked to contant the company in question for futher information she said she want do that!

You need to escalate this to be a formal complaint. Then, if they still won't back down you can then take your case to the FSA, but you need to exhaust Halifax's official complaints procedure first.

When you log on to any financial web site you do so via a HTTPS 128bit cipher encrypted connection, even if your wifi traffic was intercepted they would not have obtained your data.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Unless they had already installed a keylogger onto the laptop. To be honest though, to get in via an unencrypted wireless network you need to be reasonably close. I know it could be someone driving round in a van and sitting outside houses, but in reality what are the chances.
