TThe only card I know of that does not have a genral online payment facility.(e.g. via debit card)

I have recently taken the AbbeyZero Credit Card, and was also rather surprised to find that you cannot make payments online using a Debit Card.

You can pay through your own bank's online facilities using the info provided on the giro that comes with your statement.

This is true, but when I tried to go this route it didn't work, and my bank informed me that I would need a new Debit Card and a Card Reader to make the payment. I got is sorted eventually but it did cause some hassle

I was about to respond saying that but thanks anyway. Definately can as I've seen it in action. I don't think the counter staff can check the details, it's the personal advisors and assistants who can that's for sure.

Precisely what I was saying, you cannot walk into a branch and ask a counter clerk any account details, like balance, dates paid in, how much? is required to pay-in to avoid fees and interest!!!!. You have to wait for a private booth meeting with an "advisor".
This caused such frustration and time wasting when 3 months paper statements on 2 cards were not delivered to my address due to one of many IT failures.

That it has put me off Abbey for life, despite being a shareholder.

Abbey banking is so full of idiosyncrasies that are not customer friendly.
The words Spanish practices come to mind. ;)

That applies to any bill. But is difficult if you do not receive the statements. What happens when paperless statements are introduced? Does Abbey not intend to go green?

I am referring to Abbeys singular lack of foresight by not having a "one stop shop" ability/facility to pay in when viewing your account online.

This results in you having to write the payment figure down, log off,... then log onto your own bank account to pay.
    How archaic
