My DSR has gone red

Yesterday my DSR for item as described was 4.89, I had four positive feedback left, but my score has now gone down to 4.63 and gone red !

The four feedback left have all said how happy they are with their purchase, so how would this happen ?

CanI query it with Ebay, and will this affect my seller status ?

EDIT : While I was on hold talking to Ebay it dropped again to 4.59 without any more feedback being left.

Ebay has confirmed that one buyer left me a 2 for item as described, despite them leaving me positive feedback. They also told me which buyer had done it - so much for anonymous ratings

i think it goes red if your 30 day dsr is worse than your 12 month dsr

and then maybe if it goes below 4.6, i'm not sure as i haven't gone that low

id now contact the buyer and ask what was significantly wrong with item that they left a 2*. They will know then that it isnt anon!

I think that's very unfair the buyer not letting on in the feedback they were not fully happy. If I was giving a low rating, I would say I wasn't best pleased with the item. Possibly it was a mistake?
  • I have looked at the scans of the items they bought, and still can't see what was wrong.

Anyone know where I can look on Ebay to find out what a 2 * means, I think they go up to 5, so they must have been really dissatisfied to leave a 2. Why not ask for a refund, or mention it ?

I suspect I had something similar happen to me and whilst I have not contacted ebay I suspect I know which buyer it was, unfortunately they bought several items from me so hit me hard with poor stars.

I was running at 4.9 for post and packing with a 12 month average of 4.94 it dropped like a stone to 4.7 in a week and my seller dashboard for post and pakcing is now red as my 30 day p and p figure has dropped to 4.74.

That was a blooming overseas buyer who asked about a combined post and packing charge for several sets of books , so I quoted an airmail price to her. She won and then demanded I requote for surface, which I declined. She paid up and left a row of positives (thank goodness) one of which though stated something like 'would have been cheaper to fly over and collect myself). Yet I hadn't even listed this overseas as these were boxed sets I was selling off before the new rules on postage for books came in, so they were heavy to start with. I even had to open my auctions to Europe after she agreed that the postage I quoted was OK. I think she paid actual postage costs of around £17 plus I added 90p as I had to source a box and some secure packing items.

  • Ebay have confirmed that my DSR is correct, and I have asked them to confirm the user id of the buyer who marked me down as I have no idea what their problem is

If they will confirm the buyer, I will block them, but I have a feeling that I shouldn't have been given their id in the first place. There is nothing to stop them buying again (as I have similar items listed) and marking me down again. Apparently if I fall below 4.3, I cannot list.

My other DSRs are all 4.89 and above, but if this buyer wins more items and marks me down again, I could be suspended

I used to love Ebay, it was fun, now it's just a series of hassles

  • This is the major problem with this star rating system, all it takes in one or two people leaving you low ratings and next thing you know you are no longer able to sell.

Was there any reason for them to do this? was there anything you missed in the description?

No, I attached a scan and put that the items were in good condition. I didn't say very good, or perfect, and looking at the scan, I still can't see what the problem is  I can understand people not leaving a 5, but to deserve a 2, I would have thought the item would have to be rubbish

I know I am wasting my time talking to Ebay, that's the problem, sellers now have virtually no chance of appealing :o I have feedback of almost 5000 and have never had this problem before

You're right, with everything else going on in the world, it's not worth stressing about.

I'll improve my descriptions, and hope buyers can improve their reading skills :D
