Yes, exact same issues here. From the little bit of research I've done it's likely to be a hardware compatibility issue probably caused by drivers. I'm currently searching for drivers and I'll keep you updated if I find some. Please let me know if you've solved this in the meantime.0

Just an update incase anyone else is having problems. I had a fruitless search of the net and ended up calling t-mobile. When I mentioned the dreaded 'blue screen of death' the guy sighed and noted it was a 'known issue'. They've talked me through a manual connection process which I'm using instead which they reckon will solve it.
I hope this works, if not I'll be exercising my consumer rights and cancelling the contract as I'm still in the cooling off period.
Just to note I'm actually happy with the service generally, I get consistent and fast connections but understand this isn't the case for everyone. It apparently varies depending upon the number of other users in your area.0
