Brand new mobile - first time charge?

Hi
I just got my new mobile delivered, and it's sitting next to me charging (I'm like a kid at christmas!)

In the olden days(!) a first time charge had to last 15/16hrs - is this still the case? It doesn't say anything about it in the manual, only that it will be up to full performance after 2-3 charge cycles......

cheers

AG

(oh, it's a nokia 6280 if that makes any difference?!)

Nope, it'll use a Li-Ion battery. These don't suffer from the "memory" effect. It's older NiCad batteries that used to.

A battery will have a set number of charge cycles though, so each time you do a small burst charge, you're using up a cycle. By the time the battery does start to get worse though, you either get a new one, or you'll probably have a new phone by then.

Ideally though, just charge it fully first time round, for whatever the recommended charging period is. In fact you should fully charge and discharge any new battery a few times when first using it. Burst charging a Li-Ion battery is ok, but if possible try not to do so.

Most mobile phones these days come with at least half charge in the battery so you shouldn't need to charge it for very long.

As its a Nokia the charging bar on the screen should stop moving and flashing when the battery is fully charged
