I wouldn't pay a registered childminder £3.50 an hour! Round here it's £2.50 for a registered childminder or £28 (9am-5pm provide your own packed lunch) nursery.

Though I have to say, having used childminders and nursery, I much prefere nursery. We are lucky, DS2's nursery is amazing... and it's free for him :D

Only experience of family was a huge stressfull letdown, but that's my family (well DH's).

OP, the £125 a month sounds great to me, now to relax and make your offer to your SIL.
People pay more than £2.50 per hour to get their dogs walked. That's a pittance and I'm surprised anyone bothers to become a childminder. They certainly aren't in it for the money.

Blimey - I used to pay my dog walker £10 an hour and that was 12/13 years ago :eek::eek:

And mine wasnt the only dog walked in that hour - he had at least 10:eek::eek::eek:
  • Just been catching up with all of posts in this thread. My mum very kindly offered to look after mine when they were little and still has them after school twice a week. She wouldn't take any money from me as she says she does it because she loves them :D So I paid for her to have a cleaner once a week and to have her ironing done. I pay direct so she can't turn the money down and it means she didn't have to spend her evening catching up on the house work she couldn't do because she was looking after my children.

It worked really well and I still do it to show her how grateful I am!! I also try and get her a weekend away once in a while eg using the recent De Vere special offer :money:
Perhaps something similar to this might work in your case OP?
