It turns out when paypal Actually asked for the £30 from my bank (10 days later) .....funds were no longer available..........

So i paid my seller the quickest and easiest way (time wise) for us both...by Postal Order. He was Very understanding!

Now paypal are threatening Debt Collectors on me because my paypal account says -£30

But if i pay them £30 pounds............. my balance will return to Zero!!!

That Isnt Right! Is it!!

Wheres the my £30 going........?

My seller has long since been paid!!

How can paypal expect me to give them £30 i havnt got!!.......... for nothing in Return!!

  • What exactly does it show in your PP account?
Sounds like your seller may have been paid via PP even though there was a problem with your funding.

    hi,

it says failed transfer from bank account.

    refused from credit card.

    -£30

My seller was contacted by paypal to say the transaction hadnt gone through and he couldnt withdraw the funds.

So i paid him by Postal Order.............costing alot more.
  • I would say talk to your bank, then credit card, then paypal. Someone's got the money.

I think the most likely explanation is the following.
    1. PayPal initiated the ‘instant’ bank transfer and the money appeared in the seller’s PayPal account.
    2. The £30 in the seller’s PayPal account was put on hold, not because there was a problem getting the money from you, but because PayPal consider a phone to be a high risk item.
    3. The seller received your postal order and sent you the phone.
    4. The sale concluded successfully and PayPal released to the seller the £30 that was on hold in the seller’s PayPal account.
At some point during that sequence of events, the direct debit to claim the £30 from your bank account failed and the attempt to get the money using your credit card also failed. You should ask the seller if they have ended up being paid twice.

Well i got no sense from paypal........

And my Seller from December isn't replying to emails.......

(Maybe he has been paid twice? Once by Me via a Postal Order....... and then belatedly by Paypal?)

Anyway Paypal went ahead and set the Debt Collectors onto me.........

And Now They've sent a letter from some Solicitors.......threatening Court Action!

    What Now?

Do i pay them?........... meaning ive paid twice?

I'm on benefits and i can't afford it all in one go...............(also the -£30 on the Paypal website, has now been converted to Euro's)

My guess is that the transaction is 'withheld' on the sellers side. This means if you pay them the money, the seller will get it in their account.

Contact the seller and ask them to contact Paypal confirming that you have paid them via alternative means and to cancel Transaction ID ....... . Or try telling Paypal to cancel the transaction, they may ask for proof that you paid the seller via an alternative method.

Also their debt collector (NCO Europe or whatever) is all bark no bite from what I can tell.

My Brother-in-Law would tell you differently, they sent bailiffs to his house to collect goods because he took shoddy advice to basically ignore them.

The debt collectors working for paypal that were fined for harrassment were also calling on people and alledgedly talking to the neighbours about how Mr or Mrs X owed money. They were also found in breach of telephone harrassment calls, can't remember all the details but it was to do with the times of day they called and the amount of calls they made, does that sound right?
