Might be an idea to check your credit card statements - they've been charging £9.95 instead of the advertised £7.95.

Yes Doc N, I noticed this, but I phoned them up and they immediately refunded my credit card with £2.
I've been good and still not opened mine - saving them for a special ocaision! - can't wait!
  • After checking my back account today I noticed that Hotel Chocolat have taken a second payment out of my account, this time for the full price £17.95.

I was going to cancel my account because of the cost, but as the next payment wasn't supposed to be taken until the end of October I decided to be lazy and put it off:rolleyes:

Anyway I called them up today to see why they had taken the payment early and if there was anyway they could cancel my account and credit my money back.

They said the reason this had happened was because of the Royal Mail strikes, they were trying to dispatch boxes early to avoid delays. I asked if I could return the box as soon as it arrived but they said they don't accept returns.

Well I wasn't very happy until they told me they would still return my money and I could keep the chocolates as they had said that anyone who took up the original offer would have 4 weeks to cancel and they had broke this agreement by sending the box earlier!!

So I have another box of chocs winging it's way to me now! I'm just wondering if they are going to taste any nicer knowing they were completely free:rotfl:

I've had a letter saying their prices are going up by another £1 so those who don't cancel in time might get charged £18.95
    52% tight
  • Although not very mse I thought we'd change to 3 monthly and save £5 on next box. There had been a hiccup so I phoned and it got sorted out really easily - absolutely fantastic customer services.

I agree customers services are excellent.
I received my 2nd box today from my tasting club membership 14 days after receiving the first one. I called them as soon as it arrived as I had decided to cancel my membership before getting the 2nd box but as a previous posted has said they are sending them out early due to postal strike.
They do not take returns but ask if you can give it away as a gift to someone who would appreciate them or pass them on to a hospital or the like.
They refunded me my money to my card no probs and cancelled my membership no questions asked. The girl on the phone said that it had caused alot of people similar probs receiving this box early.

    Hotel Chocolat....

What a hassle. Signed up three weeks ago today, was charged £9.95 -chased for the £2 refund which i got. No Chocs as of this weekend so i emailed saying basically 'i understand they might have taken a little longer than usual to be posted out what with the postal striking and perhaps even the issue of my being overcharged, however surely it should not take this long'. I received a reply from them yesterday morning which reads as follows:

    Dear xxxxxxx,

    Thank you for your email.

We do have a replacement selection in the post which should be arriving shortly, unfortunately this is infact the next selection which has been sent.

We have taken a payment of £16.95, I am very sorry for the inconvenience and the delay.

If there is anything further we can help with please do contact us.

    Kind regards,

    xxxxxxxxx

So.... I checked my credit card and they had indeed taken £16.95 at the weekend. I called straight away as i have been charged twice essentially for a product that i had not received and a service i was probably intending to cancel anyway.

The person i spoke with explained that they had taken payment earlier to get the product out in time, and that they were in the process of applying me a £9.95 refund for the first purchase but i asked shouldnt it be the £16.95 refunded to which she said no, you can arrange that after you have received your box -which doesnt make sense to me. Im not good on the phone and i want to send tham an email chasing for this refund of £9(£16.95 - £7.95), or if they have indeed refunded me £9.95 i would still be owed £7. I am not good with wording but i know they are completely wrong. I want to cancel this service and have one box of chocolates for £7.95.

If anybody here os good with words then please help me. I want one final email to there customer services to be done with this.

    Cheers

I cancelled two days ago, and got a second box today. According to my account, the second box wasn't due till tomorrow. So called them up and the lovely people said they would refund and asked if I would pass it on to a charity or hospice. Our elderly neighbour had a fall the other day so I know she would love me to pop round with my toddler this afternoon, with chocs in hand!
