OOh the temptation of inviting Cattie for a few days would vastly out weigh the moaning of RV, you would have a fab time Mar :D

tried the cheese and potato pie thing that some one mentioned, last night and it was fab, just served with baked beans. Even DS's girlie thought it smelt good and she is a veggie, so will amke it for her without the bacon and stir in a cube of spinach as she desperately needs feeding up.

Got soup mixes from Mr T 59p a bag, but these go straight in the stew/soup, no soaking. Should beef up a few meals.

You don't like rice - there are other things you could use:

    quinoa
    pearl barley
    millet
amongst others to bulk out meat casseroles

buying your fruit & veggies from market stalls

making chicken stew with `boiling fowls' - loads of asian butchers in my area selling them for around £2 each! Use all bits - including feet & head - many will throw in extra ones free as often they are chucked otherwise.

stock cubes - beef up stir fries containing mostly veg - limitless varieties of tasty meals can be made with these

lentils & split peas - boiled first - can stretch your meat meals further - use in spag bol can get you double the amount when added to the mince.

I love spanish omelette - which is just potatoes and onions and eggs. There are loads of good vids on yoou tube on how to make them.
They are great cold and also great in a sandwich.
I make OH one with cubes of bacon in it. Could make it with chorizo or balck pudding too x

I ought to hire myself out to the OSer community in the UK and abroad, one week here, one week there, do the cooking in exchange for food and lodging, what fun it would be! But sadly I don't think DH and the twins would approve as they would be eating frozen pizza all the time without mummy cooking!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I've been using the 10p ones from Sainsbury's basics and they're great.

    Cheap easy pudding

Green's Creme Caramel Mix. Cost in Tesco 50p (but use 40p coupon, which is on first page of coupons & vouchers board).
2 litres of milk in Farmfoods 85p.

Total £1.25 for 16 puds (could even be stretched to more if you make smaller puds)

Wish I had Asian shops and boiling fowl - I would buy them at £2 each! Sadly too far away. I do use barley and lentils but not a lot, and I tried that caramel dessert as it was so cheap but he says he doesn't like it
Got lots of ideas though thankyou xxx

How about I come to visit (when it stops raining :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) and stash up yer freezer in exchange for hospitality? I used to do this for a living (but in exchange for a lot of money, not for hospitality!) When I was a Doula for the new mummy barristers, accountants, bankers etc...most of them had hardly ever enter the kitchen, let alone cook, so in between breastfeeding sessions and mummy-hand-holding counselling sessions I used to fill up their freezers with simple, nutritious meals.

So I am Professionally Qualified to do this ;)

Do you provide the same to mildly eccentric fifty year old women?
    Xx
