Wanadoo problem help needed asap

Wanadoo are being a right pain - were currently with them for our dial up and have only had two problems with them in two years which were resolved afater phoning there 50p per min lines  but now my dad thought he be nice and upgrade us to broadband ...all is well until i realise that hes requested the light user package - i checked how long im online for as i play games online and we reckon it would put us into the heavy user bracket

The games i play are text based not graphic based but they involve repeatedly opening new pages etc - this means that its not worth having broad band on a heavy user contract for games that can be played almost as quick on dial up for half the monthly cost (id love broad band but its just not economically sensible)

so weve phoned up wanadoo to cancel the broad band (its not even up and running yet - im still using dial up)

My dad organised the broadband on the 27th of january - about the 1st of feb they set up the phone line for broadband and we began a 10 day switch over period (so now we have broad band which weve not set up or plugged into and dial up, still using :T )

So my dad has phoned them up to cancel the broadband and they are telling him he cant do that as hes signed up

Ive told him we should have a 30 days cooling off period where we can change our mind which he told to wanadoo and they are still having none of it and instisting we keep/use broadband that we dont want

Am i wrong about the 30 days cool down period?

isnt there also a distance buying cool down period aswell?

and finally any ideas what else we can do as we dont want broadband!
At this rate are going to get bullied into it as im guessing they will cut the dial up off soon

Any ideas/thought much appreciated :A

(sorry if this is in the wrong section)

its a 7 day cooling off period

this is generally why activation takes 7-10 working days.... so it doesnt cost the ISP money if they get it activated for you, and then you change your mind
  • 7 days hmmm will have to check then as it will be close if not before then that we contacted them

guess this post can be deleted or left to fade into the past - Thank you for the quick reply!!
  • **update**

Well today i got the BroadBand Canceled :j but my advice is stay well clear of Wanadoo. After the experience we had and what ive read from others problems with the mac(?) numbers i would never use them again for broadband!!!

My dad had initially spoke to them within the 7 days and the fobbed him off saying he couldnt cancel - i told him to try again the next day and had the same reply but.... the first phone call was within the 7 days and because of this site i was able to get them to cancel it

I spent another 2 days been passed between customer service and technical support speaking to people each saying it was the other department (customer service people are atleast semi helpful!! tech support suck)

Technical support will not give out full names of who your speaking to so trying to keep a record of who you have spoke to is a nightmare

In the end we must have spent £30+ pounds phoning there 0870 numbers getting put on hold for ages and even getting cut off once the first time i was about to speak to a supervisor

We were told numerous different *lies* or errors with the timings of the work been done - they even tried to tell me BT didnt wake me up on a saturday morning to change our dax box

Basically there a cowboy outfit who will try anything to stop you from discontinuing there broadband package

The stupid thing is when the prices would have come down in the future we would have probably used them for sheer convienence so its there loss in the long run

You will be getting a thank you MRJ and on the off chance martin reads this this site i dont think has saved me money right now but in the long run its saved me alot of trouble and having a broadband package that was of no use and the money for the monthly rentel

    THANKS MRJ + MARTIN :A :A

And everyone else steer clear of wanadoo its not worth it espesially at 50p per min!
  • actually now i think about it between me and my dad we must have spent over 2 hours easily, phoning up all the different numbers and having to re phone them which is £60+ before adding on to that the fact it was on a mobile >.<

Is there a way or is it even worth trying to get this money back - we will be getting the call charges when the bill comes through so will no for sure then.

replies much appreciated as im getting more annoyed with wanadoo the more i think about it
