ebay - feel i'm ready to be scammed

How many times does it have to be explained that Recorded is not worth it and is just an added expense that will make you less attractive as a seller!0

To be honest if you have the receipt from the post office, scan a copy - if your auction states RM 1st class then thats what they should expect. Its not your fault is the royal FAIL or a scammer is playing silly !!!!!!s. If its lost its lost (or have i missed the point) did they pay via paypal if so im sure you can win the dispute.
I might have read it wrong as im tired. But goodluck with it, to many idiots on ebay...i got BANNED because someone failed to send an item to me then left bad feedback saying i hadnt paid for it (i clearly had but ebay didnt even bother to look into it)Ask.. Believe.. Receive..

After a period of disgruntled buyers demanding refunds for non-receipt of eBay goods I now send everything via Recorded Delivery. I factor the additional 72p cost into the starting price of my items and maintain excellent DSRs. I email all my buyers with their tracking numbers via Paypal which reassures them the item is on the way thus eliminating the "Have you sent it yet?" emails.
I've had quite a few buyers who've emailed me claiming never to have received their purchase only to enter the tracking number into the Royal Mail website and to find their signature clearly visible. When I query this so many just reply "Sorry, I forgot I'd had it" and then leave grovelling feedback.:rotfl:0 -
in the last 2 weeks i've had 5 or 6 people claiming item not received!
i have tried to explain that the weather has caused huge delays, but i feel as if i am being ignored.
i have had people demanding refunds and replacements left, right and centre, being told by buyers "i will wait one more week" and then 3 days later "no item receieved. i would like a refund"
fortunately one 1st class item turned up after a week and i have just tracked a recorded item at a delivery office in london. it was going to be returned to me today but i asked them to keep it a bit longer while i informed the buyer where it was - i presume they didn't have a card put through their door. i tried to phone the buyer but the phone number is not valid! i hope they check their emails soon!
the other items were all send 1st class so i don't know if the buyers have received them, if they are genuinely lost or if they are at their sorting office - when i ask them to check the sorting office i am just getting the reply "no card has been left for me" i ask them to still check and get "i work from home, no deliveres have been made" so i get the impression that they may actually have the item since they can't be bothered to do anything about locating it.
i'm seriously considering sending everything by recorded delivery at the moment, instead of 1st class. i know the don't always get signed for but after checking recent ones i have sent, the majority have been signed for.0 -

You may be right but when I was in a similar position to your customers I found it impossible to phone the DO as they never picked up. Usually I would call at the office but I can only do that sat am and was away that friday night. I hadn't had a card and didn't know if the seller was trying it on.
As it turned out, I hadn't been carded and as it was a recorded item it was sent back to sender before I could go to DO. Sender wanted re-paying for re-delivery. I said no as I didn't see why I should.
Got refund and bought from someone who uses 1st class standard.

Along the same vein, NEVER accept Paypal for anything where they're picking it up personally, as again you have no proof that they've taken ownership... if they claim you weren't home/didn't have the goods, you don't have a leg to stand on.
You have to offer PP on all auctions now whether item is being posted or collected.
You can say in your listing that you would prefer payment by cash on collection but you have to be careful how you word it so as not to get your listing reported.
But bottom line is you have to offer PP and if that's how they choose to pay in the end you have to accept it.
If you don't accept it and cancel the sale then you face being reported as a NPS and neg feedback being left.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
This may sound naive, but what is stopping the seller getting a signed receipt from someone collecting after paying by Paypal - obviously with details of the item, date etc..? I have read enough on this board to know that the buyer could still try to get his money back, but surely a signed receipt is like recorded delivery?0
