ebay - feel i'm ready to be scammed

Sent item only worth £8 to buyer and emailed to say sent.

Just got an email to say please can they have tracking no and when received will leave feedback, item was never sent tracking and on listing stated by rm 1st class(no tracking)
. Nothing unusual in that you may think, but about a year ago i sold an item and the buyer did exactly the same email asking for tracking, i knew then they would say it was not received Guess what it was not received similar value..

I know there is nothing i can do, but feel i am now going to be scammed again, and there is people out there getting everything ofr free.

Rant over

thanks

recorded wont make any difference, needs tracking no and this would cost too much postage, for the price of item,

Recorded delivery is acceptable with Ebay as its signed for at delivery address.
If they say they didn't receive it you will have to refund them and claim from the RM if you have the Proof of Postage slip.

This link may be useful for people who are not regular users of the postage system

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/product1?catId=27500667&mediaId=79400741

If you scroll down slightly there is a section on track and trace, if I have read it correctly it would only have cost an extra 72p.

I did look in the sticky, but couldn't see a reference to this actual page, sorry if it is there, but there is an awful lot to read.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.

Always, ALWAYS send something recorded delivery as a bare minimum, to avoid scammers (and increase your postage costs by 72p so the buyer pays for it).
Any savvy (& dishonest) buyer knows that a seller has no comeback with Paypal if there's no proof of receipt - proof of delivery doesn't suffice, and saying 'I take no responsiblility for lost postage' in your listing cuts no ice, and is like a little green light to the nasty people out there.

Along the same vein, NEVER accept Paypal for anything where they're picking it up personally, as again you have no proof that they've taken ownership... if they claim you weren't home/didn't have the goods, you don't have a leg to stand on.
  • For items under £36 normal post with a certificate is fine. If they say it didn't arrive you claim from Royal mail. You are not scamming RM the buyer is if they are telling lies.

    Quite.

I have claimed from Royal Mail on the one occasion this happened and got a letter of apology and a cheque to cover my loss.
