Help with O2 contract

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice please?

I currently have around 5 months left of an 18 month iPhone contract with O2. Unfortunately, the voicemail does not work and they seem unable to fix it.

Looking at their terms and conditions it says I must give them 7 days notice to fix a problem, which I have, but they are still refusing to cancel my contract.

Basically - is there anything I can do about it? I feel like I'm being ripped off as they are forcing me to carry on paying, but not providing what is (for me) a crucial part of the service.

Thanks in advance if anyone can assist.

Thanks
x

I don't work for the 02 network btw, but voicemail problems are normally dead easy to fix. what is the nature of the problem and what have you been told by customer services?

If it's visual voicemail...the just reset your phone. Press and hold the on-off switch and home button together for about 30 seconds till a black background with white apple logo appear on the screen. Let go and let the phone restart. Usually gets visual voicemail working on the phone.

If it's to do with actually accessing voicemail or calling it, then thats o2. You could try turning it off by dialling 1760 and on again by dially 1750 (not sure which number is which though)

    Hiya,
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply.
I've tried all the codes and everything, and O2 have, apparently, had engineers working on this for the past 2 weeks but they have still been unable to fix it.

They won't let me cancel the contract because it is 'outside of their control' and they are becoming increasing rude and aggressive on the phone.

Looks like I'm just stuck paying the rest of the contract for a phone that I cannot use as I need voicemail. :(

Basically - when I cannot answer a call, instead of getting put through to voicemail the caller just gets a message saying 'The person you are calling cannot take your call' then it hangs up. Leaving people thinking that I've just declined their call, which isn't the case!

    Thanks

Have you tried diverting the calls to another number, maybe send it to a payg sim that has voicemail? Not ideal but may help?
  • Have you tried the sim card in another phone?

Have o2 tried a sim swap?

    Hi Batfink
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with voicemail - I'd like to look into this if you don't mind. Would you be able to mail me your mobile number to o2ukofficial@o2.com so I can investigate please?

    Thanks
