The Carphone Warehouse half price line rental : How did you manage to do it?
Options
Dear all,
I need some advice on The Carphone Warehouse cash back deals. I took out a contract last February on a 18 month deal, six months half price line rental. They said I had to just send my bills afterwards (but did not specify when I should do this), to get a cheque back for half the amount paid during the six months.
I have just collated my bills now and have sent it off to them. But does any one know if they have a fixed time period to which you are allowed to reclaim what you are owed? I have heard this could be 60 days. I have also heard how “god awful” TCW are at their cash back schemes, taking too long to deal with requests, completely ignoring them or just being difficult.
Could anybody who knows anything on this please shed me some light? Also, does any one know if the deal is to get the contracted amount back as half, or the actual amount spent back as half?
I look forward to your reply,
Kind Regards.

Welcome to MSE, I've moved your thread over to the 'Mobile Phones' Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
If you don't know the full details of your cashback deal it's very hard for us to help. I suggest you look on the CPW site now and find out exactly what deal you took. It will detail on there when you were supposed to send in your airtime bills. Alternatively, give them a ring.
Unfortunately, there is a chance that you may have missed out on some of your cashback. Usually, you send in a single bill at the required time (e.g six months after connection) You cannot send them in all together.0 -
I've had this kind of deal in the past. Some pay, some don't!
In practice the precise terms for claiming the cashback are laid out in the small print on the original agreement and usually take the form of having to send copies of the relevent bills to an address which is also in the above small print. Normally you have to do this within a certain number of days of the bill date or dates: The latter is when you have to reclaim it 2 or more tranches. Frankly I doubt you'll get 60 days grace for this is the usual period is no more than 28 days!
As you put yourself: You are just claiming half the line rental and not anything towards call costs.0 -

Sorry, but that is completely wrong - the usual period for CPW is 60 days, as is Phones4u (cannot speak for the others) - the regulator actually recommended 60 days as the fair period, but not all mobile retailers adopted it.

Many thanks for all of your help.
I hope I haven't missed out but fear I may have.
Carphone Warehouse sent me a text message from "redemptions" saying that they have received my letter and will get back to me within 21 days.
I would be annoyed if I didn't get the money back because no where in purchasing my contract did I get told that it was within a certain amount of time that I had to claim the deal. I would fight against the decision to turn away my claim if they rejected it.0
