Shared ownership and rules

Ok due to the house not fully being ours we have to ask permission to do certain things..as it is a new build it is gorgeous and perfect but we were looking into a few thigs that we would like to do but that are not needed as such, just wondered if anyone else had done anything big and how you had got on? my friend has done alsorts and never asked but i would like to know we were not wasting money in the long run..
So ideas are:
Loft conversion for an extra room
Internal wall removed and doors put in to make it open plan
Would love to take the back off the lounge wall and extend into garden as we have big garden and have glass doors onto decking..dh would die if he actually thought i would go ahead with this lol!!
So are they doable or not?

IF the house is gorgeous and perfect, why do you feel the need t d the above. TBH you're off your head to do all this work (potentially) on a house you do not own outright.

We would like an extra room, we have no need for one but was something we like the idea of doing, the loft is big enough so we thought we would look into.
The outside is big enough to extend again just a thought.
Knocking the wall down is not such a huge deal as we could ave done that before we moved in as not fully built when we purchased BUT we had to move from our other house so rushed in!
My friends house is SO and as i said she has done some big things and not asked whcih i guess we could do and be ignornat but it was just a question for some thoughts really...oh and who in this day and age will EVER or does own their own house?? unless your a pensioner and then it won't interest us..we have decided probably not to buy the whole house and just pay off half and rent the rest as cheaper, our IFA said these were other options to go down if we wanted.0 -

Robinbanks it would help if you actually read the posts the bit maybe where it says:
we have to ask permission to do certain things and that my friend didn't ask and that's why i was doing so..
I would never take on big jobs like below without finding out first. Also we can decide to do really what we want as up to certain points it is our house and unlike renting this is why we BOUGHT and not rent, wouldn't it be boring if none of us ever did anything to our propertys hey? there are only the major things like above that require conscent so that was the point of the question..thanks though i feel far more aware of my options!0 -

If you have a shared ownership of the property any works you wish to carry out DO need the permission of the HA, subject to planning and building regs.
Do not forget the HA own the property as well !!!!!.

I really can't imagine why you would want to spend your money improving a house which somebody else owns. Surely it would be better to save the money towards the eventual purchase of your own property? If you read the terms of your rental lease you will almost certain find that you are forbidden from making any structural alterations.0

Ok in relation to doing what we want was meant by if i wish to paint my bathroom bright pink i can, if i wish to take the kitchen sink out and change it i can if i want to deck my garden i can...if i rented i would have to ask so that's the difference i was trying to get across.
Obviously big jobs mentioned in my op have to be asked for first by the HA and tbh it doesn't matter to a certain extent if it is SO as ALL houses need buidling inspectors etc round anyway and approval..at no point have i said the work is going to be carried out without asking?? if we can't do it then great, if we can great..not really fussed either way.0 -
Primrose what about people who rent, that's like saying that they should never do anything as they don't own the house and are lining the ladladys or landlords pockets? this is our house partly and at the end of the day unless we decide to sell it always will be, wether it is half HA or not..i would imagine most houses are half owners and half the banks aren't they?0
