Carphone Warehouse conned me!!
Firstly I m sorry if it is not the right place to post it but I coudnt find any other better place to post it.Sorry I m new.
NOW I had a contract with O2 through CPW and after a year I changed to simplicty.I overused my minutes and was charged 254.I couldn,t pay it and was reffered to Credit Soulotions. They Asked me that I have to pay total of 254. I agreed and made initial payment of 50 pounds and 30 pounds a month afterwards.Till now I have Paid 140 pounds.I thought I have the rest of the money so I called them so i could pay it.But found out I still have to pay 176 pounds.I asked them why is it and they told me becuase my contract is still in place so I m charged 33 pounds each month but I m not receving any services I cant use my phone.
bottom line is i was paying 30 pounds every month thinking that I m towards the end of my debt but found out it is increasing 3 pounds every month.I would also like to mention the guy from CSL (credit solutions) told me that the total payment I have to pay is 254 and no one ever mentioned 33 pounds line rental to me.
Is there any way I can just pay total of 254 and ask them not to charge me for extra 33 pounds a month as I was not using my phone (well I was not allowed to). Your help will be highly appreciated.
Regards.

They Asked me that I have to pay total of 254.
This presumably was Credit Solutions and was referring to the oustanding debt.
Who is now pursuing you for the additional line rental? If it's O2/CPW, you need to take it up with them. If it's Credit Solutions, do you have any proof of what they said in your quote above?0 -
Sorry mate but you have to pay the £30 each month its a contractual obligation what you signed to get the free phone, also it seems like it totally your fault the bill came up to £254, i dont know what to tell you but i see no con here.0

I don't really understand what you mean? You moved over to a simplicity? - I assume you mean the 30day simplicity?
If so, why didn't you cancel the simplicity?... Or how did they let you move to simplicity half way through a contract?0 -
Yes, the whole point of Simplicity is that you can cancel with 30 days notice. It seems that if you couldn't use your phone then the contract should have been cancelled, but I don't know whose responsibility that would have been...My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1747.02 | Barclaycard: £4429 3567.32 | Paypal Credit £322.71 0.00 | Total £5,314.34 | £1,678.47 of £6992.81 paid off since diary started October 2024.0

I think the problem here might be if the op was paying off an overspend his acc would have been suspended to stop any other debt racking up. While the acc is suspended it can't be cancelled but does still charge at the monthly rate until the overspend is paid off (but I might be wrong ?)0
