If you do not have the time to go shopping, how can you have the time to wait for a delivery window? Surely 'tis quicker to pick up the shopping yourself if you are only spending a little?

you don't have to stand at the front door waiting for them to come for two hours!!

you can be doing other things around the house!!!
  • I'm a single individual and I shop with Ocado every two weeks. They've provided me with the best service, and most importantly, best quality food of all the other delivery services I have tried.

They give you a free copy of The Times with each delivery - good idea to do Saturday deliveries for the extra supplements ;) - and I've had lots of other free things from them. Most recently I got two free toy Ocado Corgi delivery vans, which were a nice surprise. I've had free chocolate bars, puddings, all sorts. In my next order I'll get a free bottle of wine with them as I've been a customer for a year.

So yes, bulk orders every two weeks is what I do.
    Cake please...
  • With Ocado you can pay the delivery charge for the whole year in advance. Which does save money if you use them enough. But their minimum spend is higher.

But with the others £4 on delivery really isn't much. How much would it cost you to drive or take the bus or a taxi?

Try to do a fortnightly shop, then you may be able to get above that £50 limit and use the money off codes (although bare in mind that they often don't work anyway), or maybe see if a neighbour wants to split a shop with you.

I'm a driver for ASDA and we often have neighbours share the delivery. The 'other' neighbour is usually at the house having a coffee so I guess it's a social visit too.

I seem to remember Sainsbugs sending an email about removing the £25 minimum limit for online shopping - but think they then charged you a bit more for the delivery (just looked up - £6 charge for delivery if under £40).

I've noticed that Ocado delivery charges can be very low or even free! I double checked this morning and there are several delivery slots for my area showing as £0 or £1 odd in amongst the more expensive ones, might be worth a look?
  • Only Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys deliver to me (I live in the city centre). Also, Iceland's home delivery seems pretty pointless because you'd have to get to the shop and do your shopping as normal anyway. Good for people who can't carry heavy bags I suppose.

Thanks for all your help. By the way, I went to Tesco with my sister and I bought lots of food to stock up, and my sister was throwing in her toiletries and impulse buys like crisps, fizzy drinks etc. and together we still didn't get over the £50 spend required to get free delivery with a code.

I wish I had more space to store things but I live in a little one bedroom flat so I can't keep enough food to feed a small country...:rotfl:
