Cancelling a O2 contract 1 week old

Signed up for a O2 contract via Mobileshop.com but thinking of now cancelling the contract with the 14 day cooling off period.

Letter from Mobileshop.com states anyone who cancels with this clause will have to pay for all line rental and call charges during the connected period.

Will this apply to me because I have not used the phone or inserted the sim card yet.

Can I simply cancel send the phone back and not pay any charges.

If you havent made any calls I doubt you will have to pay.

They may charge you the line rental on a pro rate basis - but if you want out you need to pay.

Personally, I dont like contract phones and I think you can get better value with o2 Pay as you go unless your a business user.

the contract normally starts the day after they send you the phone whether it is opened and turned on or not
