how much do after school clubs cost?

My son is starting school in September and we will need to put him in after school clubs each day, til about 5pm. I have no idea how much this costs- I had been looking forward to having a little extra money once he finishes nursery, but now am worried it will all get swallowed up by these costs...
Thanks

Well, my dd doesnt' go but I did have cause to ask recently, as she might need to go sometime in the future, and our school club is £6 per day and £10 on Fridays (as here in Edinburgh they finish at 12.15 on Fridays).
No idea how representative that is of the rest of the country though?0 -
That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I presume they feed them at these clubs; wonder if you have to pay extra for that?0

Give the school a call, as it may well be different in London - almost everything seems to be more expensive in London, so I expect after school clubs to be the same!
I think they do feed them, but only snacks as far as I'm aware. I.e. not dinner as such, just toast etc.0 -
It depends on the school. Ours is £5 but I know another school in the same area charges less. Breakfast Club at ours is £1.50 and it's free in the other school. They do it free or for less because a local evangelical church run it as an outreach within the school.0

I think breakfast club is about £4 in a local school, and after school club is about £6...The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

Hello
My 2 children go to after school club (and it is very inexpensive compared to what I was paying for childcare previously at nursery!)
I think it works out at roughly 2.50 per hour ($7.25 per day session 2.45 - 6.00) though mine are never there till 6pm you have to pay as if there were.
They give the kids a healthy snack (i.e. fruit, flapjack etc.. and unlimited drinks) and make all sorts of art and craft items/sometimes cooking/outside play etc...
The same people run a holiday club in the school holidays which is popular - this too is relatively inexpensive in comparision to nursery charges.0 -

I wish my children's primary school would do hot lunches - we have to provide a packed lunch every day there is no option to pay dinner money as there is no canteen - the kids eat their lunch in the classrooms.
My son would live a hot dinner in the winter but he has to wait till he gets home for that!
There is no option to come home for lunch either0 -
if you are working, check to see if you can get child vouchers, and if the clubs accept vouchers?
basically you aren't taxed on the vouchers, so you'll save money each month (against what you spend in childcare)Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0
