Wow, you must feel like a huge weight has been lifted knowing that they are payed off!
can you write to the credit card company asking them to formally close the account?
I'm very happy for you, that lottery win was perfectly timed wasn't it!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
With regards to claiming the late payment fees back, these have amounted over the last 3 years or so that I've got statements for, mostly late payments of 1 or 2 days, some a couple of weeks, so not sure if I'd get anywhere with threats of court action, I think of it as water under the bridge.
I've phoned barclaycard yesterday to cancel, but I can still access the account online as if nothing has been actioned yet, I've asked for confirmation in writing that the account has been settled, I'll give it a week, and if no letters have arrived give them another ring.
Also had a letter from Inland revenue today, they think they've paid me too much tax, thinks are still looking up! I've worked it out myself, and think I should be due about £140, so just got to find 1 missing p60 now.I want to take on capitalism, but cant get the day off work....0 -
Just an Update, as things are moving on and I should be debt free soon...
Nearly there to being debt free for when I finish uni in June, Just a few things I've been doing to get the debts down;
Social life has been non existant and I've been on a real mission to cut back expenditure.
On my way to claiming back £290 charges from Barclaycard
Had 1 late payment charge with Virgin credit card for £25 going back to June lastyear, called them yesterday to see as it was my first offence if I could have it back, I threaten to leave, and got half back, I'm going to phone them up next week and say I want to cancel again - the only way you'll keep meis to give me the other £12.50 back, lol then cancel it a week later anyway, lol
Will claim back about £180 charges from Barclays bank once I'm credit as I dont want them to close the account on me.
Haggled my O2 contract down from £35 a month to £20 with more minutes + a new phone that I'll sell for £150 when its delivered.
Made over £600 from matched lay betting, will be getting back into this after Uni is out the way, and I have more time.
Got lucky and received £1500 grant today from the University Access to Learning Fund, also got my last student loan payment going in on Monday for £1239.
So from my lightbulb moment last May where I had £6600 of real debt, I should be leaving Uni in July £300 in credit! Have had a bit of luck and also some debt has just been moved to my student loan which is another £17k but I dont class this as a real debt yet.I want to take on capitalism, but cant get the day off work....0
