Just been shopping and tesco are selling 1.50 kg chickens at half price, should've been £3.99 now £1.99, also skinless chicken breasts that should've been £3.99 at £1.99, so i stocked up on a couple of each for the freezer.

Yes, I agree. We used to buy meat from the supermarket and was always getting ill and children wouldn't eat it, so started buying from local farm shop. It's cheaper, free range and no more stomach problems! Also, cheap chicken often has lots of additives and water.Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -

And some people may not have other choice. Lucky that you have the means in which to choose the option of free range.
Why is it that every forum I go on when some dares to mention cheap meat that people always go on about the welfare or the life of the animal.
That is not why it was posted it has been posted to help someone else. And if you want to discuss cheap meat and the welfare of animal please take it over to the moneysaving arms.
Mind you I bet you wear clothes and don't even think about where that was made and by whom and how much that cost. And household goods that are not made in this country but in the far east for next to nothing. But that does not stop you from buying the goods.
Thought not.

Are you advocating censorship then Calley, or are we all allowed an opinion?
There is no saving to be had from buying chemical filled, badly treated livestock from dubious sources. You save money sure, but the knock on effect is massive. Just the fact that the first question was "Are they english" tells it's own story about how bad the meat market has got. The health risks far outweigh any saving.
Oh and I buy my clothes Fairtrade wherever possible and ALWAYS need to know where the saving has come from. If someone lives in poverty to save a few bob is it really worth it?0 -

No I am not advocating cenorship where an earth did you get that from
think you need to re-read my post. I did say if you want to discuss animal welfare than take it over to the moneysavings arms which I think is the correct place to discuss the ins and outs of animal welfare. Not on this board at all.
And how do you know it is british because they tell you it is. I am sorry to say that unless you raise the animals yourself you have no idea about the welfare of any of them.
And in first reponse lucky for you that you have the money to be able to buy fairtrade. Mind you kinda funny that people bang on about fairtrade coffee etc. But don't think twice about fairtrade being extended to the farmers in this country.

I do not have a problem eating supermarket meat.0 -
Do you own a Dyson by the way. Bizarre question but there is a reason.
Sorry I've got to ask the question, WHY? I do have a dyson but don't have a problem with 1/2 price meat.
Please reveal the reason!!Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0
