First post on here so please be gentle !
I had AOL broadband a while back but cancelled it 7 months ago and just kept my free email address.
Having looked back though my credit card statments it seems ive been billed £2.49 each month for no reason.
After being on the phone to AOL for a hour today it seems if for an update of a virus scanner that I dont have and that should have been cancelled when I cancelled my broadband
All that the people on the phone at AOL can do is give me a number thats always on hold or to use this link (which comes up with a fualt when I do in both IE and Firefox)
http://safety.aol.co.uk/cancel-aol-security-suite/article/20061013083309990128
Seeing as im getting nowhere and owed nearly £20 whats my plans of action ?
I though about cancelling or changing my credit card but would this affect my credit rating at all ?
Tanks and advance and hello
Paul

The link seems to work for me Paulpen.
The question asked is: Are you sure you want to cancel your AOL Security Suite? (McAfee).
On pressing cancel, the following page appears:
https://my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?sitedomain=purchasing.aol.co.uk&authLev=1&lang=en&locale=us&siteState=OrigUrl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fpurchasing.aol.co.uk%252Fpurchase%252Fceasing%252FCease%2521default.action%253FproductType%253D1%2526partnerId%253DFalcon%2526rateId%253D6%2526title%253DAOL%252BSecurity%252BSuite%2526cardinality%253D0%2526aolProductId%253D708%2526price%253D299%2526orderId%253DCCDBC850800AF0F88011F61886081B764%2526description%253DAOL%252BSecurity%252BSuite%252B%25253CI%25253Epowered%252Bby%252BMcAfee%25253C%25252FI%25253E%2526partnerProductId%253D531-20514-mis%2526activityType%253D1
I hope this is of some help!0 -
Going to that link and cancelling your subscription won't get you your £20 backk though. I'd call back and tell that the phone number they're giving out doesn't work and make them call you back when they've sorted out the problem for you.
You may need to kick up a stick and demand to speak to a manager.
At least you've learnt something from this: check your credit card statements every month!0 -

Not quite the same thing, but I am trying to cancel aol, as we cant get it to work! I took out a phone and broadband contract, but the broadband has never worked.
I was told I am still liable for the rest of contract, but as it hasn't worked, can I cancel it on those grounds?
Any ideas?Loving the sunny days!0 -
Had an email from them today via their "feedback form" saying they are going to look into it in the next 72 hours.
Ill be visiting my bank on saturday morning and cancelling it either way though0 -
I have cancelled my broadband with AOL today but the chap said he had nothing to do with the £2.49 that goes out monthy for virus protection etc. I pointed out that it said AOL - UK- on my bank statement. he said that that was AOL International Corporation and not AOL Broadband. He said I would have to go on-line and search for McAfee to cancel with them directly. Needless to say I have no luck with this... any ideas?0
