I want a mobile phone with a good camera in it

Or to be more precise my mother does. Her contract is up for renewal in a month, and her main criteria is that she seems to want a phone with a decent camera. Now as far as I'm aware nearly all mobile phones have the same issue, namely that they may have a decent number of megapixels, but the lense is pretty terrible, making for some less than efficient photo taking. I have a Samsung G600 at the moment, and whilst the pictures are good quality, there's a few second delay between pushing the button and taking the picture, during which time you'd better hope that your subject doesn't move (fine if you're taking a picture of a sunset, not fine if your subject is a pet or child).

Apparently there is a new Nokia N series with a very good quality camera and lense, but it's also a 16GB MP3 player, which is very much surplus to requirements. So any good suggestions from you fine people that would meet the requirements?

  • I second this Crazy Jamie - I am out of contract now and looking for a phone - my main aim is to get a good camera on it - I also don't want super duper mp3 as I love my ipod too much.

Come on guys- any ideas? I prefer slide or flip by the way!

Just upgraded to the Ericsson C905 which has 8.1MP, nice bit of kit so far!
  • My daughter is an art student and she has just upgraded her phone with a decent camera in mind.

Got her the Samsung Pixon M8800 which she is very pleased with.

I reviewed loads for Christmas as I just wanted a phone with a good camera and no other requriement and decided on the Sony Ericsson K800i - absolutely smashing pictures and easy to use. Whilst it does have the autofocus similar to your Samsung it has an absolutely wonderful button called bestpic - it takes 6 or 8 pictures at once and you just choose your favourite and delete the rest.
    Thank you all who post.

I'd say both of those are worth a look. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

  • Pixon all the way specially in the way of a camera
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
