  • the manual seems to suggest that just adding a 4x (or lower) AGP card should work, without entering the BIOS. Check that the card is seated correctly (level)

    Edit:

Your avitar does not work - is it pay-per-click?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Thanks DatabaseError - it's a 4x and has been in and out of the slot all day with no joy.

  • Hard drives for desktops are usually 3.5" (platter diameter)(metal case is approx 4"x1"X6". Can have differenent types of edge connector, yours will be IDE/PATA. (black with 40 or 80 pins) If your motherboard supports a plugin Video card, then in order to access the BIOS menu where this option will be, you need a working screen to read said menu. Fraid this is catch 22. I guess that could try booting into BIOS. Power off, hold delete button whilst powering system back on. Maybe the existing problem will be code related and not hardware. This may result in the BIOS menu (blue usually) presenting. If lucky, then hopefully, one of the menu options will allow you to disable onboard video. However, signs are not good, as PCs usually detect alternative video card installs and present base display for further configuration/software update. Power everything off, disco all power, reseat all edge connectors+ cards on motherboard, then retry above.

Is there nothing even when the graphics card is completely disconnected (Back to how it was originally)?

Nope - the screen just shows the 'no signal' message.

Basic things to check are the monitors input port and the cable itself for any damage?
Id guess the motherboards knackered in some way though (Which means a new computer really)

The monitor & cable work on another pc so I'm sure it's the on board graphics - but then it is 6 years old so I guess I've had my moneys worth.
