gone off wet food

if the cat has suddenly stopped eating, then I would pop him or her along to the vets for a check up..if all is well, and you are happy to feed dry then ( depending on the brand ) this is much better for the cat anyway. Just ensure that you always offer clean fresh drinking water0

One of mine goes through phases like this and I've found that it is because he craves variety and finds commercial wet food too boring
What about giving him a qood quality dry food for his main meals and a bit of fresh chicken, fish or liver as his midday snack? (This can work out quite cheap if you shop around)
To increase water intake the water fountain suggestion is a good one, both of my cats drink so much more since I got them one and it really shows in their overall condition. Plus the fountain is really easy to maintain so no more cleaning and refilling water bowls 2 or 3 times a day
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Our cat is about 18months old, we have always fed him on wet food with a midday snack of dry food.
But he has recently stopped eating his wet food, we've tried different brands and warming it up but he still refuses to eat it....
What could be the reason for this?
Thanks
He's a clever cat! :T Will save you lots of time & money in the long run - just encourage water drinking by whatever means necessary (I am yet to trial the water filtering machine I bought before Xmas - my two happily lap water from a ceramic bowl).0 -
we've tried mixing wet and dry...he just picks out the dry bits. And he is eating but only dry food, and he won't drink water from a bowl so he will not be getting enough water while only eating dry food.
Cats often won't drink water from a bowl that is placed next to or near their source of food. Try putting it at the opposite end of the room or even in an entirely different room.
Strange as it may sound, have you tried offering him water in a glass? One of mine went through a period of only ever drinking water from the glass on my bedside cabinet!
Other than that, be assured that he will be drinking water elsewhere, either outside - even if just from rain puddles! - or dripping taps/toilet etc. It's extremely rare for a cat not to drink water unless due to ill health
