i spoke to g.p. on the day after the op and he phoned and tried to get the appointment to see the surgeon and or consultant brought forward repeatedly but he and i were told just to wait
the only solicitors that deal with medical claims say that i would have to put up £1600 before they would look at takeing it forward ( which i dont have) and then they may or may not take it forward and if they do costs could be over £10000 for littl or no compensation. the no win no fee people say i would need to put up at least £1000 before they would think about it and hands dont get much compensation anyway0 -

Take the hint. Clearly the legal experts you have consulted consider your case to be one that would be difficult to win.0 -
Don't give up with your hand - nerves do regenerate themselves, it can take a few years, but fine nerves recover faster than major ones. The post-op pain would be expected too. When I had my ulnar nerve moved my arm was very sore for several weeks. I think we'd all be surprised how much surgeons maul us about when we are under anaesthetic. When I came too after another op the nurses had to keep me propped up on 4 pillows for the next 10 days as the muscles in my back hurt so much I couldn't possibly lie flat simply because I couldn't sit up again. I actually asked the surgeon if they had dangled me out of the window by my wrist as part of the op!!0

i tried , my g.p. tried and the practice manager tried to get an appointment to see the surgeon before the 6 week check but he said there was nothing to worry about even though my g.p. said he thought the nerves were damaged or compressed and that i should be seen early.
i have spoken to a specialist solicitor and they said that there may well be a case but they do not do no win no fee for medical cases and i cannot afford the legal fees if i were to loose or it went on for and lenght of time ( the figure quoted to me was to expect £10000 prepare for twice that and hope for less to win a possible £5000
and when signing the conscent form i was told of a possible numb patch on my palm that would wear off within weeks0 -

The 6 month limitation period is a statutory limitation to bring a complaint under the NHS (Complaints) Regulations 2004 (minor amendments in 2006) - which is secondary legislation. However, no compensation is payable under those Regs.
The limitation period for PI claims is generally 3 years.
However, as has been said, any surgical procedure carries with it a risk. The fact that it has gone wrong does not imply any negligence.
Sorry for your troubles and I hope your hand improves.0
