How do you clean bathroom tiles in shower cubicle ?

Any help with the avove please ?

Grouting bit of tiles always dirty 3 or 4 days after really good clean. Tried cillit bang ( or cillit whimper as it should be known), all bathroom cleaners available at tesco, ones promising to remove limescale and not let it come back. I will try anything. Thanks in anticipation .

Bi-carb mixed with bleach to form a thin paste then use a toothbrush or small nail brush.

    Hi

Once you have it clean try using car wax

Car wax makes an ideal cleanser and polish for ceramic tiles. Apply generously and give it a wipe with a soft duster before it’s completely dry. Not only will it clean your tiles, but its natural waterproofing will keep them looking good for longer.

My mum uses MER German car polish to keep her tiles sparkling clean. It does a brilliant job, only thing is it's a tad expensive, but once you've cleaned them with it, you only need to give them a buff up. It does a great job of them.

Distilled Vinegar (clear) and water(50/50 solution) in a spray bottle. I did it the other week and they came up great.

    Hope that helps.
  • I used to scrub mine with bleach and a toothbrush now I just steam them with steam cleaner

Funnily enough I did mine last week, used toothpaste and a toothbrush. It was okay on the ones that weren't too bad, but not that effective on the really grotty ones...........................but then I couldn't scrub really hard due to a knackered shoulder! icon11.gif

  • You need to get rid of the root cause, soap scum.

Never use bars of soap in the shower, only liquid soap or shower gel and you won't have a fraction of the problem in future.

You still have to clean it now, but ban bars of soap and you won't have to go through this pain again!
  • I use Dettol bleach, spray it on leave for about 15 mins. Make sure u have a window open it's strong stuff and then just rinse off............quick and simple!

Haven't tried this, but it has been suggested to me by a plumber that the reason fro mouldy tiles is that shampoo bottles etc left around the shower tray attract droplets of water underneath. This provides the damp atmosphere that mould needs to grow. Suggestion is to put all your bottles etc in a suspended rack.

    Hi

Another alternative AFTER the tiles are clean to protect them is using RainX and you do not have to use much of it. RainX is used for car cleaning and you apply it to the windscreen and it repells rain. It is excellent and would work a treat on tiles.
