Go for it Queen Bess, I don't mind at all! And thanks for the idea of the cheque book

Right...my hamper so far...!
Have managed to find a perfect wicker basket in my local charity shop for 99p!
Bought some Radox Indulge bubble bath for £1 in Morrisons - luurvely!
Found a mini bottle of spanish white wine - her fave!
Am on the lookout for a cd or dvd - not sure what to get yet tho.
Have got a great card for a good price and am going to get the kids to make her one for 'grandma'.
Nearer the time I will find a nice small plant to put in the middle of the basket.
Am also looking out for some nice notelets and some golf balls!!!
Still to get cellophane/tissue paper/ribbon.
Any other ideas?! This is fun!0 -

Strawbs xxPain is temporary!! quitting is permanent0 -
Ooooh thanks Strawbs! That's great, I will take a look. Am hoping not to spend more than £1 or £2 max on each little gift and I'm trying to bring it all in at under £15.
My mum has done a lot to help us out this past year and continues to help and be the biggest support and friend I could have asked for, so I thought this would mean more than usual gifts.
As we are all money-savers/debt-clearers now, it's the thought that counts!0 -
Asda's valentines sale had some lovely cute little covered hot water bottles for £2 (they were £4) might be worth stashing if there is any left. I got one for my hamper stash.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback
2014 Free Money - £59.84 Topcashback
2015 Free Money (so far) - £186.33 Topcashback0 -
Thanks motherhen, that's worth noting. Will try and pop to Asda over the weekend.
Purple Posting, do you live near a golf course by any chance? If there is a forest or beach right next to your nearest course, it might be worth taking a walk (you could always turn it into a game for the kids!) because you will always find stray golf balls in either vicinity. Clean them up and they look as good as new!
I remember doing that all the time when I was a kid, I doubt my dad and brother have ever had to pay for a single golf ball in their life!0 -
I just wanted to say thanks to you all again for your help and suggestions! I started my mother's day hamper today! I bought a lovely woven hamper basket from TK Maxx (I probably could have got one cheaper, it was £7.99 but I was really happy with the size and look of it) and then I bought a few bits and bobs from b and m bargains store to star it off.
This is what I've got so far (I've decided to turn it into a relaxing/gardening hamper) -
a lovely maroon fleece throw (£1.99) because she likes to sit and relax at night
a wine glass reduced by £2.00 to £1.99 (will get a nice bottle of white to go with it!)
4 packets of Sweet Pea seeds (£1.99)
5 x plant pots - 79p
a gorgeous coffee mug (£1.49) and will get a jar of coffee to go with it
oh and I bought a book in Asda last night for £1 by an author I know she likes
I know this probably isn't interesting for anyone but I'm really pleased with myself because I usually go over the top with spending but am doing well so far! And I've only got her things I know she'll use. I have a good idea of what else I'm going to put in with it as well now.0 -

Sounds like a really great gift!
I once made my mum a girl's night in gift bag:- The Notebook Dvd (shameless romantic weepy) currently £3.99 on HMV.co.uk with free delivery. Bargain
- Bar of Chocolate (About £2)
- Bottle of Wine (about £5, less if on special offer!)
- Packet of pocket tissues (about 50p!)
Think I will make a 'box of hugs' as suggested above. Does anyone know where to get a magnet from to turn it into a fridge magnet?
Thanks
Laura
