End Orange Contract Early
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to end an orange contract early? I'm more than willing to pay for the remaining months (don't think I can downgrade the contract though because it isn't 6 months since I upgraded).
Just wondering how easy it is and if there are any penalties -also if they still let you port your number out.
thanks

if you are happy to pay you can end and port at anytime, will cost your monthly line rental x number of months on your contract0

You would probably be entitled to a 5% rebate of the total still owing, if you decide to pay it all off upfront.0

What Steve_xx says about a rebate is true..As you are technically not receiving a service from Orange then you do not need to pay VAT0

But if you have to pay anyway, why not use the benefit of the minutes in the remaining months? If you've seen some wonderfully tempting new offer, there's no law against having 2 phones.0

Hi, all paid off. Dunno about a rebate but it was about as much as I expected. I could have two phones but the reception in my area has got worse and the customer service is abysmal, especially when trying to report a fault. So I voted with me feet

I may be missing something, but how does voting with your feet help you if you had to pay over 6 months line rental to get out of the contract? If it was a problem with service, wouldn't it have been better to have tackled them about that until they got it right (or refunded you).
Personally, I would have kept the service running to use up free minutes (instead of running up my landline) - you have now paid for a service you cannot use?

Wait a minute. You didn't mention that Orange service in your area had deteriorated, and that was why you wished to terminate. There may have been a more suitable remedy for you in this case. See the extract below from Oranges tems and conditions:
4.4 terminating your contract because Orange is no longer able to provide access to the Network
If, for reasons beyond our control, we are no longer able to provide Network Services, we will at our discretion either:
4.4.1 make arrangements for you to be supplied with equivalent Services by another network at no extra cost to you, or
4.4.2 accept written notice from you that you wish to terminate your Contract. In such cases we will refund any pre-paid Charges that have not been used up.0 -
With due respect to the OP, was there really much point asking for help with a subject, then acting so suddenly without further discussion?0

They couldn't get it right because they refused to acknowledge the issue. I've got better things to do than labour the point with a call centre to be honest. I knew I had a contract and it's only fair that I have to pay if I break it. It was much easier to do that than get wound up over calls breaking up and a faulty phone.0
