Those tins of pineapple and peas 'n rice screamed sweet & sour to me. You could use a small tin of chopped ham (45p) cut into cubes for the meat element.

If you have a supermarket with a bakery near you, you can ask them for some yeast - they'll give you it for free.
Then take a look at the Complete Breadmaking Collection sticky and there are threads on making bread (or rolls or pizza base) with your plain flour. You don't NEED strong flour, plain works just fine and may only need a little extra rising time.
One pack of flour will make you three big loaves or twenty seven decent sized rolls, or six 12" pizza bases.
A handy site for making bread is:-

Edit: There's even a thread in the collection about making bread without yeast, just in case you can't get anyHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. FRIDAY RICE
Melt 1oz butter in big pan and soften a chopped onion, add peas/carrots/leek/any veg you like. Add about 8oz rice and stir till coated. You can add a glass of white wine here if you have any, then add a pint and half of chicken/veg stock and simmer till cooked. Sprinkle with cheese and serve. It ends up nice and creamy, lovely with chunks of bread.

Boil or steam some spuds, mash them with a little butter, salt and pepper and stir in grated cheese, pile into a dish, sprinkle some more cheese on the top, if you have a tomato left slice it and put it on the top......cook in the oven for 35 - 40 minutes and serve with baked beans....does for either lunch or supper.
Tin of tuna, cooked pasta, white sauce, stir the tuna and pasta into the sauce, grate up some breadcrumbs and spread on the top of the mixture......cook for about 40 minutes till the topping is crisp.............tuna pasta gratin, again lunch or supper.
Macoroni cheese with jacket spuds...........

Alleycat wrote:Thanks for all the support! I have one more meal sort of, just need a bit of help. I forgot the left over chicken for one of the mondays, so was thinking of some sort of stirfry with the rice and peas and pineapple chunks, onion. I have lots of spices, just don't know what sort or how to do a sauce with it.
Any suggestions?!
Just three more dinners to go!
P.S. Anyone know how much a packet of ham costs at Aldi, Lidl or Nettos?
i think a 200g pack of ham at lidl is £1.49 or thereabouts but you can get 400g of turkey breast (quite nice actually) for only £1.79
also farmfoods where i'm at has a dedicated section with bernard matthews two/packs one side ham the other turkey and they are 2 for £2.00 so you get 400g of lunchmeat in total for £2
i really feel for you...dh has done this more than a few time :eek:founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -

Cube half a tin of corned beef and cook into a tin of beans. Eat with toast, or jacket spuds.
If you have onions then add some lightly fryed and layer with par boiled sliced potatoes or mash is a dish and pop in the oven for half an hour. Nice topped with some cheese and with brown sauce."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." this isn't very healthy , but my husband and i love tesco value fish fingers ( 18p for box of 10) and for a lunch we often cook 2 boxes and make fish finger sandwichs. they are so yummy and so very filling. if u include the bread thats a whole meal for under 60p ( thats if u buy cheap bread )
i'm sure in the sticky mega section thingy there is a section for meals under £1 or got £1 and hungary. ( sorry can't remember the exact title.)
