If you want a CIFAS warning then go ahead....
  • I earn just under the threshold (around £19.5k) and my partner earns around £20K. Applied under my name last week and got the cards today.

So there must be another reason they declined you.
  • How hard are Amex cards to get? Do they approve people who don't haave much credit history?
  • In this financial climate I'd say all credit cards are harder to get and yes, it will depend on your credit history as well as income.

I think we're talking about the Platinum 5% cashback Amex card which has a £20k household income threshold.

I get 'cash back' with mine once a year, provided I pay the balance off each month in total.
