Is the radiator actually getting properly hot? Heat rises so its normally downstairs that is colder.

Have you tried bleeding the radiators?

Can anyone give us any tips???
We live in a semi detached house, which has central heating and just recently we have had loft insulation put in.....
We can't have cavity wall insulation says the survey guy as we have yorkshire stone house :9

Trouble is we have a baby due in 7weeks and we cannot get the nursery above 13c radiator is on full doesn't seem to be making a difference.

We have an extractor in the bathroom but try and keep the door shut to the bathroom but again no real difference comes of it...

Can anyone suggest anything that we have missed? or is it we simply have an old house thats cold?

Good evening: Does the CH pipework run under floor boards...if so is it lagged i.e. insulated with eg. Climaflex ? Is the new radiator properly sized for the room and a double convector? Check here
Please don't bleed the radiator if it is warm/hot all over.

If upstairs rooms are cold, you can almost guarantee that air is getting under the floors. The only way to really fix it is to lift up the boards and seal the all gaps where anything (joists, pipes etc.) pierces the inner wall.
  • You need to check that the output from the radiator matches the room size as per the previous post (this should also account for heat loss). Also, did your plumber balance the rads? Is this radiator as hot as the ones downstairs?

As for the windows Im not sure I can't make my mind up on them it is double glazed but they are steamed up on a morning...does that tell us anything?

You have condensation which may suggest your double glazed windows and new UPVC door are preventing any air flow (altho the low ambient temperature will be part of the problem). Damp air will make the place even colder than it is so you may want to try a dehumidifier. But it does sound like sorting the loft hatch situation is critical.

You shouldn't shut the bathroom door completely when using the extractor fan. Air needs to enter the room to replace the damp air that is being sucked out. Just leave it open a small chink.
