Hi Thrombanks
We've received the same email about leaving Scottishpower this week out of the blue so I guess we're about to go through the same pain you've been through.
We still can't get hold of them. We're either being cut off as you describe in your first post, or sitting on hold watching the money come off my Skype account. Any chance you'd be able to share any direct dial contacts that you have? We've probably already spent about £5 in calls just trying to get hold of someone so would be keen to get that back if compensation is possible.
Any advice you can give from your experience would be much appreciated.

I have now agreed to settle my dispute over the erroneous transfer with E.ON (PowerGen). I have accepted a "goodwill " payment of £20. I was really annoyed that this sort of thing can happen and the customer seems powerless to stop it. I am still getting mail from both E.ON and Scottish Power about the matter. It was apparently a neighbour who was switching and they (EON) got the address wrong and if they had just checked the name and address with Scotish Power the error whould have been avoided. They just refer to "the property" not to the bill payer - bad procedure in my opinion.
OK. My advice is get through to Scottish Power a.s.a.p because they can stop the transfer. But by the time you get the "Don't Go" email they have already started the transfer (bad procedure again). Email - ContactUs@ScottishPower.co.uk Call Customer Care 0845 270 0053 . Last time I called I was again queued and although I have an extension number I have not found away of using it. I think Customer Care is not open at the weekend so you will need to resort to email (I had to do the same).
You will not be cut-off so don't worry about that. Hope you get it sorted out.
