Sky News are saying that EDF will reduce their electricity prices by up to 12.5%. Not sure if this applies to the Eco 20:20 tariff as I can't find the latest price list.
  • I have just been looking at this eco 20:20 tariff. Am currently with Scottish Power on their Discounted Energy Online NSC. My current rates are

    Night - 5.745
    Day Primary 16.134
    Day Secondary 10.993

My consumption for the last 30 days is as follows 763 units night and 223 Day.

My DD has just gone up to £60 per month.

What are the actual unit charges for the eco 20 20 in essex? and how do they compare to the edf online v6 tariff??

Uswitch are quoting edf to be cheaper but you never can tell!

    Thanks Stu

You can look up your eco 20:20 tariff here

You will need your annual consumtion for both night and day units to work out if 20:20 will be better for you.

E7 will be better in the winter but probably not in the summer.
  • Whilst I'm sure it will be of financial benefit to some, isn't this new tariff just another (and rather extreme) example of confusion marketing?

I've just had a look at the terms and conditions, 1c)
Customer’s whose main form of heating is provided through off-peak electricity metering (such as Economy 7, Economy 10 etc) are not eligible to apply for the Eco20:20 tariff as they are unlikely to receive any sustainable benefit from transferring to the Eco20:20 tariff.

I think they say that because you should only be on Economy 7 if you use the majority of your electricity during the off peak hours. These would mainly be people either with night storage heaters or those who rely on electricity to heat the water. If you use most of your electricity overnight then the Eco 20:20 tariff wouldn't be suitable as the nightime prices aren't as low as Economy 7 prices.

I have Economy 7 but I use less than 10% of my electricity at night because I have gas central heating. I called EDF and they said it was ok to join Eco 20:20.

I'm with EDF. I had a look at this new tariff but I would hardly benefit from it. I only use around 2600 kWh per year of electricity and I get the 15% discount off the standard tariff with their Energy Assist tariff.
