This is not racist. We are north european as are Latvian, Poles etc. You could not tell where they are from appearance. We are talking Caucasian in general.
What the so called offensive post was referring to was a group of people who have no affinity to the UK, who have not paid into the system but do withdraw from it.

This knee jerk race reaction is so annoying and stops real debate.

    Highly unlikely:

Nationals from Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia who have been working for less than 12 months have a right to reside while they are in work and registered under the Worker's Registration Scheme. If they cease work their right to reside will usually depend on being self-sufficient and they are unlikely to qualify for income-related benefits. . I don't see you moaning about the soft fruit that is practically given away in Tesco and Asda in the summer that the Polish immigrants have picked at 4am and 5am for £1 an hour.
    .

. There's a reason why locally farmers and business owners will employ the immigrant workers - they actually WORK and don't sit about moaning and complaining about it all day.

Here the bits that make you a idiot......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

British workers cannot afford to live on those wages...and competing against foreign workers is not possible because it is not a level playing field
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

British workers wouldn't and didn't do the back breaking work that the job entails which is why immigrant labour is used. IF a British person did do the job then they wouldn't work for less than the legal minimum wage - foreign young workers come here and often speak no English, know nothing of their basic rights and they are exploited. Recently there was a case locally that a friend of mine got involved in - she works with the local immigrant population - where the polish supermarket was paying the cashier £3 an hour. The cashier didn't know this was wrong couldn't speak any English to find out either.
The other issue that directly affects this is the demand for cheap produce. IF British labour was used and a fair wage paid, we wouldn't be able to buy strawberries for £1 a punnet in Hereford city centre all summer.

I totally agree with you that it's not a level playing field - but rather than stamping feet and complaining how unfair it is that the lazy layabouts of Hereford aren't out picking fruit because they won't work for that money (when in reality the problem is they won't work full stop) people should be insisting that immigrant workers have the same pay and the same access to unions and the same working restrictions/regulations as a British citizen.

What I personally find extremely frightening and worrying about the attitude towards immigrants in this country and especially locally is that it is so reminiscent of the run up to the second world war. A socialist government coming in and 'supporting families' then an economic downturn where the spot light is shone on a marginalised and weak part of society to take focus away from the true problems. I don't like where it's going.

Most people in the UK are tolerant people. Unfortunately the media gives Xenophobia and Anglophobia much of it's attention. I agree this takes the focus away from underlying issues which impact us all.

Err, where did I agree with the post you referred to? I have no opinion on it at all as I have no depth of knowledge of it. My post commented on the "4 legs good,2 legs bad" reaction to it citing racism and the reporting of the said post.

However I have seen articles in papers and on the news relating to the posters point. Could you comment on this article relating to Polish child benefit entitlement? http://www.people.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=17717503&method=full&siteid=93463&headline=hand-me--pound-75-and-i-ll-get-child-benefit-for-your-kids----in-poland---name_page.html

Well, I am sorry if this is the case. As the original post we both referred to was definitely not referring to a "group" of people but simply generalising and you defended him, I understood that you share his opinion...
As for your link above - If this is true than it's disgusting. But surely since 2006 when this was found out there must have been changes made?

There are some good people and some bad people - what I don't like is generalisation. Just because a person was born outside UK doesn't mean that it's a bad person.

I myself have a Polish window cleaner and I have no problems with the man. As for defending the other guy, well I do not go for generalisations either but there are plenty of examples of foreigners from all over the world coming here and taking advantage of the system. You must agree that this does go on. As long as the media highlight this and also the Government's seemingly ineffective control of it, then generalisations are obviously going to occur. I am not xenophobic, hell, I work for the Japanese and am truly grateful they are here.

The only point I really agree with on EU movement is that all countries should adopt the same welfare packages to avoid any potential abuse by a minority (no doubt this would be opposed by the anti-EU brigade as well though). With regards the article above, if taxpayers have children and are entitled to benefits, then they're entitled to benefits. The only point is that living costs elsewhere are lower than here. We could always proportion benefits based on living costs where the child is I guess, but the same approach would need to be adopted within the UK as well. Then no doubt people would complain about the system being too bureaucratic, widening the north/south divide, etc.
