  • Interestingly enough i asked NEXT customer service how the payment protection came about on my account. Apparently i opened my account in 1996, but the payment protection did not go onto the account until 1998?
I asked how this happened and they said that as it was so long ago they do not have a record of how the PPI was added to my account and stated it could of been via a telephone call to myself or maybe a store card.
I remember i did once have a store card (now i just use the online system) but i have NEVER requested payment protection on anything before as i have always had a secure job.
Letter was sent 1st class today...lets hope the cost of that stamp reaps the reward. I have £340 balance on my Next account...£240 would be very nice indeed!

    Good luck then scott.
You could request a SAR from them if you wanted at a cost of £10 and this may have details of how the PPI "appeared". Don't know though as its quite a long time ago.

I have had my next directory card for 17 years, apparently i was given an opt out scheme to return to them. I thought i had to have the PPI and have not understood the opt out clause - what do i do now, send second template? Please advise

You have obviously sent the first template and they have replied about the opt out clause. Write again re-iterating your complaint. Give them 14 days to reply and tell them you will then go the FOS. Send all my recorded delivery.

Good luck and post on here if you need any advice.

  • Just found this thread and have looked at my Next account, I have had payment protection since October 1998! Rang Next to query it, got my first Next directory in Feb 1994 but the ppi was added in Oct 1998. She didn't know why it was added on 4 years later said it was probably to do with a Next store card I had, but never used and don't have now. They won't cancel the ppi by phone I have to wtrite to Admin Dept in Leicester.

Where do I find the template letters?

    Thank you.

    Hi there

The link for more info on PPI mis selling is here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You will find the template letters for this on the link, not sure is store cards were regulated/covered then by Gisc or FSA who taken over in Jan 2005, for instance if you were not successful in reclaiming the financial ombudsman will only investigate complaints if they were covered by these regulators, but its still worth trying to reclaim anyway and there maybe other ways around this if not successful.

I always say, if you don't try to you will never know......:D , but good luck anyway and they have 8 weeks to respond in full, best to post by recorded delivery as well, let us know how you get on and if you can even though there is a template letter for reclaiming try to use your own words if you can.

We will take it from there, just keep us posted and help is on hand here for you.

It may well be worth checking and even asking on the success thread to see if others have had success with these, and if you cannot see this on there, leave a post and someone who may have had dealings with them maybe able to give some advice and help on this for you.

    Good luck.;)

    Hi hun

I take it you mean a letter template for reclaiming, is that correct?

    Check this out here
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

There is a template on the link here you can use for both loan PPI and credit card, write to them if you can though by writing in your own words and obviously your own reasons, in the link you will find many reasons of why people may have been mis sold and if any of them occurs to you write them down as well, and anything that is not mentioned on the link.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full and another letter maybe required if not successful or until you receive the final decision, post by recorded delivery.

Let us know the outcome of this so we can help you step by step if required, good luck with this.;)
