My bathroom tap is fed from a tank which is well covered with a tight fitting lid. Almost all the rest of the house is fed from the tank except the kitchen and utility sinks. However, I have been using the tank supplied bathroom water to clean my teeth and to take tablets for 30 years, ever since I built the house, without any ill effects. The en-suite room that my wife mainly uses is also tank fed, and she has been using it for 30 years also, without ill effects. I suppose that I should change the supply to the bathroom sink to work off of the mains, but that would upset the pressure differential between the hot and the cold taps. But I doubt whether I will ever bother.
However I have always made sure that the tank is tightly covered, so no debris can get inside. The water gets changed regularly due the the amount of demand from the bath and sink. When I examined it recently there was perfectly clear water and a slight deposit of what looked like clean sand in the bottom. Obviously an open top tank is a big no! no!.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
