Kaupthing Edge/ ING

I had a little money in a Kaupthing Edge account which I luckily got out. But now it seems that they have opened an ING bank account. I did not ask for it and it does not even have any funds in it. Will I be charged for this account that has no balance? I have received in the post, the pin number and don't think I should use it as I probably want to close it. Anyway, is anyone else in the same boat?

All former KE accounts were transferred to the ING platform over the past weekend, so all former KE account holders are in the same boat.
You are quite likely to have at least a small balance in the account, if you did not completely close the KE account (residual interest, etc.), there are no charges. Will I be charged for this account that has no balance?
I've had an open ING account with nothing but a few pence residual interest in it for years - ever since their rates changed from very good to absolutely dire.0 -
Since you didn't close your account, they transferred it to ING Direct with all the others. It's not going to cause you any problems whether the balance is zero or a few pence. You can either leave it or if you'd rather you can phone them and ask them to close it. No big deal either way.0

If you took all the money out one month, the next month you'll have had some interest due, so then you'd have to withdraw the balance on the second month, to get it to zero. If then the balance was under £100, you'd have not received any other interest, so if you have emptied the account for a second time, the balance would still be zero.
You have to ring up to close the account.
They are making a hash of it, I closed mine, months ago, and only just got the closing statement (zero balance) - I was told this would arrive in a couple of weeks, in reality it took a couple of months. Yet a week ago I received a letter from ING saying it'd be transferred to ING - right mix up.
To close the KE account, ring them on: 08451 31 32 330 -

1socrates1 - I suspect you'll now have to 'phone ING on their CS number. I think the KE number isofa quoted is no longer valid. I could be wrong though.
My "0" balance has also been transferred.0 -

Yes same here, I applied for an account ages ago (oct 08) heard nothing from them until a letter arrived from ing stating the account would move from KE to ing weekend 7/8 Feb, also got an email from KE saying the same thing. As I never paid a deposit and never had any details I am ignoring all of this they should wise up soon, I had enough trouble with icesave.

KE number I quote works fine, it's now part of the ING call numbers.
All balances will be transferred zero or otherwise, unless you have shut your KE account over the 'phone...0 -
My money in KE was transferred over the weekend. I already had an ING account so I can use my usual log in to access it.
Decided to accept the 4% bonus rate for 6 months on the new account.
So for once things have gone smoothly for me at least. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Fair point, I'd advise against dealing with Vogons:rotfl:That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Can anyone tell me whether my old KE linked account will work with the new Ing account??
I will be sending Ing new R85's for gross interest as I have been caught before by having new account numbers!
Many thanks for any help - robthos0
