Great advice already, but just wanted to say I have painted walls, and diluted stardrops and hot water doesn't make them go patchy at allProud to be dealing with my debts :T

Call me Thicky McThicko but what exactly are Stardrops? I've never heard of them, they sound like some kind of exciting Haribo jelly-based confectionery...2016: No Clutter to Be Seen 805/2016

LOL Casati - it's a detergent. Usually to be found in the cleaning aisle. It's around 70p for a decent sized bottle, and it's excellent stuff. Stardrops has been around since I was a kid.
Can't miss it - it's a golden yellow liquid.Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

I will have to keep my eyes open for it. Maybe it's not stocked in my regular haunts. Thanks Hawthorn.2016: No Clutter to Be Seen 805/2016

I find Stardrops very harsh on my skin - and I can't wear rubber gloves because they irritate my skin too! A brilliant de-greaser is soda crystals, and if you buy the liquid ones in a spray bottle then it's even easier! When I was cleaning the tops of kitchen cupboards in my last house when we moved in it cleaned all that gunk off very easily.0

you can also use diluted bio clothes washing powder - excellent degreaser.
Change the newspaper once a month?! I just cleaned the top of kitchen cupboards for 1st time in 3 years

I can wholeheartedly second soda crystals in hot water for almost instant de-greasing. I cleaned the yucky tiles above the cooker with almost no elbow grease needed at all!0
