Some pretty interesting responses there. I hadn't thought about how much it could potentially put out the sellers really, and I wouldn't be a 100% time waster, because I would be viewing with the intention of thinking about buying if the price was right...

I have better things to do with my time anyway than go around viewing houses I'm not even interested in ;)

'viewing with the intention of thinking about buying'

I'd say that's definitely maybe okay then.
  • I wouldn't view a house I wasn't interested in buying. Not fair on vendor.

I dont think weve ever viewed a house unless we thought there was a good chance we would buy it. I havent got time to waste myself just snooping round peoples houses - better things to do. Id absolutely hate this happening to me and Im sure OH would sniff out the rubber neckers and give them short shrift. On one occasion a couple of decades back we turned into the road where we were due to view and instantly hated the location. We felt it wrong to waste the peoples time just mooching round their house with no intention of buying so OH knocked on the door and tried to respectfully explain it wasnt the sort of situation we were looking for.

Its funny you should say that we had a viewer, who drove up our road and then phoned the estate agent up and said they didnt like the road.

Id prefer them to do that than just come and have a snoop for the say so,i always ask the estate agent load of questions now about the potential buyers, when she tries to arrange a viewing.

 Could be worse I had a couple who came to view and they wanted to know if they could try living in the house for a while just to see if they liked it, because they were not sure if they liked the town or not .

  • i feel its rather unfair for some on here to diss some 'non buyers' viewing houses- it may be unsuitable for various reasons.

as for wasting time tidying up etc, wouldnt that have to be done anyway, for the eventual buyer?

only ONE can actually buy a place at a time.. and i doubt no one has ever viewed just one house, and then bought it?
