Please help - I'm in danger of breaking my phones!

Just got a new phone on e2save for which I've decided to keep the number (needed to let ppl know a new landline number anyway). Originally I was going to keep my old Orange number, port onto PAYG, then back onto Orange, but sim cards have only just come. I got my PAC code from Orange on about 11th January and was planning on porting this out to Virgin to cancel my orange contract, and leave a message on the answer phone alerting ppl to my new number. Problem is that in trying to unlock my old phone (Samsung E800), I only managed to delete everything on the phone including the PAC code. I don't want to deck that phone further (gonna give it my dad), or damage my new Nokia 6230i (already failed to unlock that by using codes on the internet).
So I either need a surefire way of unlocking one of those phones without damaging them plus how to get my PAC code again, or to know if I can just cancel my orange contract - does asking for the PAC code constitute 30days notice of termination? What can I do?

asking for the PAC code doesnt constitute 30 days notice unless it is used, you should be able to call orange for another without a problem

Thanks Jim. Knew things wouldn't be simple.
Another thought...could Orange just put me onto PAYG instead or would I have to give 30days notice for that too?0 -
you can go to payg - I've done it twice - but yes to 30 days0

if your contract is up you can call orange and get it changed to PAYG. although you keep ur number they send u a new sim card, it does still take thirty days, and if you dont activate the new sim card when it comes u stay on ur contract.
I'm sure this is correct, however haven't worked for orange for nearly 2 yrs now!Copy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0 -
So in order to not to have to pay out for another month's contract, I really need to get a new PAC code and port out. Therefore I also need to find a way of unlocking my Samsung E800 or Nokia 6230i - bit wary of these free internet sites as tried a couple and didn't work.0

6230i needs cable/hardware unlock
e800 can be done by cable/sw or you can buy a clip for £15 which just plugs in and wait a few seconds and its unlocked - then you can sell it on (it also unlocks several other samsungs)
this code works for some e800 models (sim out i think)

Thanks everybody. I contacted Browntoa, but looks like he's not going to be able to give me a code then. So annoying! I would chose phones that cannot be unlocked. (Drahcir - that code didn't work, but thanks anyway.)
Guess I'll be going onto Orange PAYG then. Will they send me a sim for free?0 -
try your local market - should be able to get the pair done for about £10ish - bulk discount ; )0

If your out of contract orange will send you the sim free, when u recieve it give them a call to register it and they will port the number, or, as drac says , mst markets/high streets will have a stall/shop that offers unlocking for between £10-£20Copy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0
