Hi can anybody help.I have been using my chip and pin in my local Texaco garage for small things petrol ect.Unknown to me there new chip and pin machines had not been taking the money from my bank account this started on the 16th Dec last year. When i checked my account today i noticed that 27 transactions had all gone out on the same day.Which has nowleft me well overdrawn. My bank have also given me 4 lots of bank charges and an unauthorised overdraft charge on top.I understand that this could be down to me not checking my out goings but is this all my fault.I mean 7 weeks to take the funds out Regards Lee..

THe blame 70% the garage for not taking the money sooner.
30% you for not knowing roughly how much you had spent.
You seem to get printed receipts for most transaction ................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Hi mad06 not sure if i can name where garage is but its in a small village if you like in Carmarthenshire.Hope you have more luck with the bank then me .0

If your account usually runs smoothly then there is a chance the bank will refund some of the charges as a goodwill gesture. If not you'll have to do the full reclaim of charges once the system is functioning again (if the court case ever gets finished).
Obviously the actual payments to the garage are due and you will need to pay the money in to cover them so that you don't pay further bank charges. Payments can take months to hit your account in some circumstances, it is less and less common now but it does still happen there is nothing you can do about it except maybe ask the bank to allow a temporary overdraft to cover the payments until such time you can cover them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i know what you are saying is true but surely they did not have a right to take 6 weeks back payments without notifying us that they would?0

this man has put a lot of people in financial difficulty, without thinking. maybe it is partly our fault for not checking the transactions had gone through by checking bank staements but as far as i am concerned, you enter your chip and pin and payment is processed its paid! so not our fault, banks fault for not processing the payments!0

You knew that you spent the money, it should have just stayed in the account until the garage took it. After 7 weeks you must have thought you had got away without paying, then the company takes the money & you are complaining.
You must have seen that all these transactions were not being processed, you should have contacted the company concerned & told them.
Nobody to blame but yourself, if it was one or two transactions then yes you might have not noticed or it might have slipped through. But come on 26/27 transactions you have got to be kidding.

excuse me? so everyone who got stung is to blame? as i said earlier surely if you put yr pin number in and transaction gets approved thats cleared to me. i didn,t check my statements to be honest and i bet everyone will tell you the same. so you are saying he had a right to do that? he should pay everyones charges as compensation.0

i did not think i'd got away with it, or turned a blind eye. i have 4 children and one wage so things are tight and i get bank balance every single day.0
