Slightly off topic but is related to flying and is a question that our utility expert, Greenbee, maybe able to help with.

It's to do with gas pressure. I have a gas hob (and gas central heating). Since (and during) the weekend, I've noticed it's taking ages to get a saucepan/frying pan etc. up to heat. The flame is blue so I know there's no escape/air involved (it would have orange bits in the flame if it was). But, it doesn't seem as 'fierce' as normal.

I know we've had snow, but it's not been as cold as some of the frosty days so I don't think it's do to with ambient temperature.

It's a mystery! Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

But, soup is (slowly!) coming up to the boil and I'm going to settle into the Miss Marple on cable...

ETA - In fact, whilst I was typing that and thanking and browsing, I went back into the kitchen and the soup still isn't getting up to temp! A couple of weeks ago, it would have been burning on the bottom!

kids are in bed and finally settled - i won't be far behind them

anyways, earlier i decided to write and email to some of my family back home (my older sister is the only one who really is in contact with me still - on a regular basis!) - and low and behold 15min after i've sent it my mum called (internet phone) me  ; we had a nice long chat and even my little brother threw a few words in   - and then I (!) get told to be in touch more often  [sigh] - but now i know about the recent fights and illnesses and troubles and falling outs ....

anyways, dw is ready to run, LR is still tidy (just need to put away a boardgame the kids left), playroom is tidy - so that's good enough forme :D

serena i am glad you were not alone when that horrible man 'bumped' into you! :T

Denise good news that the pain is gone!!! glad you could enjoy your evening :T

domino great start on week one day one!! slow and steady gets you to the end

soappie lots of ~~~~funding vibes ~~~ your way!!!

oh rosepink, that's good that oh was there to have a chat with! hope the days at your mum will give you new energy!!

hellsbells i do hope they reconsider and leave you with the car!! ~~~fingers crossed~~~
  • In my HHc with Jue I have now
vacuumed the hall and the middle of the LR (might do more tomorrow as I want to move a sofa!!)
    dusted the 2 light fittings (hall & LR - before i vac'd!)
wipe all the light switches and sockets everywhere!
    wiped the paintwork inthe hall
    put WM on clean wash

so thats a few more bits off my list - will go update in a mo!

boddy hope th headache goes quickly
crafty I see you are to get more snow tonight!
soappie do these people not know how lucky they are to have you! Massive *more funding to keep soappie in her job* vibes being summoned with all my strength! Hope the life changing decisions become clearer too.
rosepink hugs and I hope the days away help - you have a star for your kitchen! WM/DW clean cycle - you put large quantity of soda crystals and some white vinegar into both and run them through their hottest washes - no clothes or dishes - well you could put cleaning cloths in the WM if you wanted - it cleans out the pipes etc of all the gunge and limescale!
hellsbells I am sorry to hear about the car - fingers crossed then that it isnt written off? Hope you can find something to keep you mobile!

off to find my list and update it then I might do some knitting!
    toots x

    Evening all

Am not going to really fly tonight as the living room is absolutely fine as was only done on Sat, coffee table is even still tidy!! Plus it felt like it was a long long day and I'm happily chilling in my pjs ;) I have, however cooked and washed up and packed my work bags for tomorrow ( i forgot to tell you last night that I weighed the bags I'd carried home after work (just stuff I needed for this morning) and it weighed 25lb  no wonder i get tired dragging all that stuff around!

DH is studying and also sorting out moving into our ISAs.

serena - how awful. me and my friend call cars like that p*nis extensions :rotfl:

soappie - i noticed ages ago that our gas pressure seemed to have gone down, hadn't thought to mention it!

Finally all children upstairs - one has been out of bed 3 times, one yet to go into the shower and one will need to be told again in a minute to stop reading and go to sleep.

Rose - be kind to yourself hun, please don't feel you need to apologise to us for not cleaning - whilst there are stars on this thread my total flying today was hoovering downstairs (only middles of rooms) and s&s the sinks/loos. CBA now so having a glass of wine - DS3 has sent my brain into a spin with one of his lets ask a million question days.

Serena - sorry to hear about your bad day and I hope your DD is on the mend soon, how is your mum?

Boddy - hope your headache eases soon

Soappie - some mornings the AGA (gas) is not as hot as other mornings for no reason whatsoever, I put it down to outside temp but I could be wrong.

  • Evening all, haven't managed to do anything yet....just about to go and have a bit more of a go at the kitchen - I know it's the wrong order but the steam cleaner is all out there still so I'm going to keep going on the kitchen this week and then start following the lists next week when I'm happy with the kitchen!
