  • Ok I have tried to call the council how wont discuss anything about the money owed to the bailiffs, they in fact had a different bailiff listed than the one dealing with me now. I spoke to the bailiff today and he is saying he wont make any arrangement and that a removal team is coming to my property tomorrow. I told him I wont be in to which he replied they will find a way to get in even using a locksmith..Is he bluffing?? I have just started a new job as I was previously unemployed so dont have £380 to pay. I offered a sum of the bill but he says he wont take anything but full payment..

HAve you sent a pm to Herbie21 or tried to ring her? even the premium number is better than losing stuff.

Herbie needs to know name of the company and name of the bailiff who did the levy/WPO. and who yyou are talking to.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • The number closes at 7 & herbie21 is offline. The company is Chandlers

Herbie may be off-line but she often comes on late evening and early morning. She will get a message to say you have tried to pm.

If you send her (do not post here) the name of the individual people who did the WPO and the bailiff who is coming she can check if they are properly registered. We have discovered quite a lot that are not and her action stops them in their tracks. But if you do not send the pm, she cannot find out and no-one else has the required access.

Was this CT for the period you were off work? Did you claim CTB?

  • I sent a Pm, I was unemployed and claiming CTB but this money was owed before I was unemployed.

    Good.

You could try RobertoMoir as well - ex bailiff who knows his stuff but does not have access to the same records as Herbie.

Yes he is bluffing, peaceable entry is not a locksmith. Stand by your guns, hold-fast and don't let them in. Make sure every door is locked and windows closed. Don't open the door if they call. Either ignore it or talk through letterbox. They will probably say they will charge you more for the van/wasting time etc. Don't worry, as long as you don't let them in the max they can charge is £40 odd (they get upset if you remind them that ;) )

The council should tell you how much the liability order is for, its a legal document and you have the right to know. If they refuse email a councilor, they tend to get things moving quicker as they approach through higher management when you get to come from the bottom.

If you can pay something online and have the council payment details you can start paying what you can afford. They won't refuse the money.

As long as you are willing to pay you won't go to prison or get a criminal record.

Main thing is don't panic, keep posting here for advice, and never believe what bailiffs tell you (apart from Robert!!).
  • Oh and move your car (if you have one) away from the house.
