house number on wheelie bin

Options
I want to put my house number on my two wheelie bins but preferably for little or no cost. I've got some white gloss paint in the shed and was wondering if this would stick to the plastic surface and be reasonably rain-proof? Or is there a better alternative?

If not, where can I get some cheap adhesive numbers to stick on my bin?

I just got some brightly coloured stickers so now I can tell which ones mine out of a group of them.

You can buy adhesive number stickers in any DIY shop.

I bought number labels from our local DIY/Hardware shop. Each number cost 25p. Really cheap and effective. Probably the larger multinations will also have them.

If your going to use gloss paint rub the area to be painted
with a scouring pad to make a etchable surface.

Did you use a gloss paint or regular emulsion?

The only reason I keep pushing the paint idea is because I have a tin that could be used up - it'd save me a few quid on buying some sticky numbers as well  !

We painted our number on our bin over 5 years ago in white emulsion on both the lid and the body of the bin and it still stands out a mile!
