Dss Funeral Expense Claim - Life Insurance Payout

Options
I have heard that the DSS will pay for funeral expenses if the relative claiming is on benefits and other members of the family are estranged. However this must be paid back out of the estate (if any). How does the DSS know if there is an estate? Say there was a life policy in force that paid out when the person died. How would the DSS know that the policy had paid out? Do insurance companies have to notify the government when a policy pays out upon death?

There is a funeral grant (not the payment for the whole funeral )available and you have to fill a form in regarding any estate and there are questions about insurance policies etc.

Its amazing how these things are known by the powers that be, we are in a big brother state now so its not worth lying on forms.
Its like the police if you get stopped in your car. They know in seconds if you have insurance, mot, tax.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
